Such a special bond! 💙

“The bond we have grows stronger day by day. I knew we were about to get an amazing dog but Clover is so much more. She is a companion who loves to be by my side and has ‘saved my bacon’ by alerting me to changes in my BGL.” — Ray

It’s International Assistance Dog Week! 🐾

This year’s theme is Better Together, and throughout the week we will be sharing some incredible partnerships that show the life-changing impact of Assistance Dogs.

Today, we would love to introduce you to Ray and Clover. 🧡

Ray lives with Type 1 Diabetes and, before Clover came into his life, relied on blood tests and his continuous glucose monitor to manage his condition. Now, Clover’s incredible sense of smell helps alert Ray to changes in his blood glucose levels — sometimes even before his technology does.

More than an Assistance Dog, Clover is Ray’s trusted partner, companion, and four-legged friend. Together, they have grown into a remarkable team, bringing confidence, connection, and joy into each other’s lives.

Thank you to Ray, Karena, and Clover for sharing your inspiring journey with us. 💙

Lion Sheryl Keppler is over half way through her Spalding to Tanuda hike for Lap the Map. Check out some of her fantastic photos of the hike so far.

Sheryl's hike is to help raise awareness and funds for our Lions Assistance Dogs Medical Assistance Dog Program, which provides Diabetic Alert Dogs to Australians living with type 1 diabetes, free of charge across the country.

She has braved some harsh winter conditions and blisters on her almost 300km journey, but something tells us she won't let this stop her! Go Sheryl! 🙌

If you would like to cheer Sheryl on, you can share your comments of encouragement below. Let's rally around her so she can finish strong.

If you would like to make a donation to her fundraising page and support our Lions Diabetic Alert Dog program, you can follow the link here: https://fundraise.lionshearingdogs.com.au/fundraisers/sherylkeppler/lap-the-map
