RIP Professor Scolyer, and thank you 🙏
The Brain Cancer Group is deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Richard Scolyer AO.
Professor Scolyer was a world-renowned researcher, clinician and advocate whose groundbreaking work transformed cancer care and improved the lives of countless patients and families around the world.
Following his own diagnosis with glioblastoma, Richard faced his journey with extraordinary courage, determination and openness. Through his willingness to share his personal experience and participate in pioneering research, he brought unprecedented awareness to brain cancer and inspired hope for future generations.
His legacy extends far beyond his remarkable scientific achievements. He will be remembered for his generosity, humility, resilience and unwavering commitment to improving outcomes for people affected by cancer.
The Brain Cancer Group will remember Richard and all those affected by this illness, and strive to improve the outcomes for future patients and carers.
On behalf of our Board, medical advisors, supporters, patients and families, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Dr Katie Nicoll, their children, Emily, Matthew and Lucy, family, friends, colleagues and the wider cancer research community.
