Turtles are still on the move. This boy was rescued from a busy road & handed to us for relocation. It looks like it has been hit by a vehicle in the past as there is a chunk taken out of his shell that has healed. 🐢🐢🐢🐢

The 2nd one this week that I saved that was upside down in the middle of the road. This one was on the very busy Northern Rd, Luddenham. Luckily it was unharmed! 🐢🐢

I managed to rescue this fellow from the road today after it was hit & flipped upside down! Luckily no damage to him & no thanks to the countless drivers who couldn’t be bothered to stop.

We were invited for a tour of the new M12 motorway at Luddenham towards the end of last year to be shown the turtle barriers that had been designed & fitted to guard rails. The M12 has a number of farm dams & creeks on either side of the motorway & the barriers are designed to redirect turtles away from the roads & into underpass culverts instead. As you can see, we placed a turtle shell to demonstrate that a sub-Adult or adult turtle won’t be able to fit under the gap. This barrier will also help with echidnas & other animals from not getting onto these sections of the motorway as well. This design will certainly help reduce roadkill & injury to migrating turtles & other wildlife.

We were really happy with the film content that Better Homes & Gardens aired last Friday night! It really ties in well with the 10th anniversary of our organisation!
