A new hospital on the Gold Coast will support Queensland's marine life 🙌

Construction has commenced on the Sea World Foundation Wildlife Hospital, thanks to a $10 million investment from the Queensland Government.

Located on the Gold Coast, the new Sea World Foundation Wildlife Hospital will not only help rehabilitate and release more sick and injured marine life, but also welcome visitors to learn about the lifesaving work. 👏

➡️ The hospital is designed for rapid rescues, with vessels docked onsite for quick deployment, and brand-new equipment to treat larger marine mammals – making it the first facility of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

For more than 50 years, Sea World - Gold Coast, Australia has been at the forefront of marine rescue and rehabilitation efforts around Australia, and this project will allow their team to have an even greater impact on Australian marine life. Beyond just critical care, this new facility will enable theme park visitors to view some of the life-saving work and promote important conservation messages that encourage Queenslanders to value, protect and care for our unique wildlife and natural environment.

The Sea World Foundation Wildlife Hospital is one of the five new and expanded wildlife hospitals being delivered throughout the state thanks to a $39.6 million commitment from the Queensland Government.

It's echidna mating season!!
This means that echidnas will be out and about looking for 'love'! These slow moving, very special and unique little Aussies are extremely vulnerable to being hit on our roads, and accidentally finding themselves in our backyards.
Please don't try and relocate them, if they are mothers with babies, ie puggles, stashed in a den somewhere, the young will starve. Its best to keep your pets away and just let them go on their way.
