A huge Thank You to everyone that attended our ANZAC Day Commemorative Services yesterday. It was a busy day for the Sub-branch but we went home exhausted but extremely happy with how it went. The rain or really drizzle didn't even damper everyones enthusiasm for the day.
A wonderfully attended Dawn Service followed by a very enthusiastic crowd of locals cheering on our Veteran Community lead by our very own RSL Pipes and Drums, GENS ALTERA, then an amazing crowd at the Main Service.
A special thanks to local, LCDR Robert Valler, RAN for his quest speech, Marlene Jacobs for leading us in the Hymns, Rev. Matt Borg and Mayor Robert Bell for their contributions.
Personally, I was very proud of my daughter Mel and wife Teresa for leading us in the New Zealand National Anthem and we've had several emotional visits and messages about bringing a tear to the eyes of ex-pat KIWIs in the crowd.
I think the hit of the service was young Grace Dunn for leading the singing of the Australian National Anthem and with such enthusiasm.
Another huge thank you to WO Daryl Broadley and his partner Shevaun Stait of Invergowrie for leading the march but also looking after the Australian Army Cadets. This is group of extraordinary young men and women, many of whom are locals, attend Cadets ever Monday night and learn amazing skills that can serve them in their lives ahead. They did a wonderful job yesterday and did themselves proud.
Thank you Uralla for making us feel that we belong here and our service in the ADF was worth while and appreciated. We think of all the young men and women serving now and those that follow in our and their footsteps.
Lest We Forget.
