🌱🥬 What a wonderful harvest for the Uralla Neighbourhood Centre Food Pantry today! 🥦💚

The fresh produce table was overflowing with beautiful, homegrown goodness, thanks to the Uralla Community Garden and generous local gardeners sharing their surplus veggies!

Our Community Garden contributed a fantastic selection of fresh produce, including spinach, silverbeet, Russian kale, spring onions, radishes, bronze fennel, purple lettuce, a giant cauliflower and our first broad beans of the season!

It's wonderful to see so much fresh, locally grown food making its way into the community.

A huge thank you to all our garden volunteers and everyone who contributes their extra produce. What a fantastic example of community spirit! 💚

If you're interested in learning more about gardening or helping our local community have access to fresh produce, come on down the 1st Saturday of the month to our working bee. 🐝

🐝October Community Garden Working Bee 🐝

Come along to our October working bee at the Uralla Community Garden!

We’ll be getting stuck into the usual garden jobs of planting, weeding, watering, tidying up and whatever else needs doing as we get ready for the warmer months.

Everyone is welcome, whether you can stay for the whole morning or just lend a hand for an hour or two. No experience needed just bring your enthusiasm and, if you have them, bring a hat and gloves!

Once again, we'd like to thank Walcha Central School and the wonderful Year 1 and 2 students for sharing their beautiful drawings with us. We loved them so much that we’re featuring another one this month! 🍅

𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗵 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲
The revised map, prepared by the NSW Rural Fire Service, reflects current bushfire planning guidelines and local vegetation information, replacing mapping that has been in place since 2009.

A key change is the inclusion of grasslands as bushfire-prone land, aligning Uralla with other rural and regional areas across inland NSW. This update helps ensure bushfire considerations are appropriately incorporated into future planning and development decisions.

Look what we did! 🤩 A beautiful amount of produce this week for the Uralla Neighbourhood Centre Food Pantry💚

3 x large cauliflower, 4 x enormous Chinese cabbage, 3 x bunches of red kale, 10 x bunches of spinach, a tray of spring onions, some bunches of bronze fennel and, in amongst this riot, a plate of yacon!

One lovely lady doing her shopping said ‘Thank you Community Garden for all you contribute each week. I follow all the posts on FaceBook too. You do wonderfully.’

Thanks once again to all our amazing volunteers that help make this happen. And remember, we have a working bee on the first Saturday of every month. It's a great way to meet people, learn some gardening skills, and enjoy a beautiful day out in nature. New faces are always welcome.

NEREZ Northern Hub - latest news

Recent national energy system planning and network modelling has determined the section of transmission line north of the North Energy Hub, known as the northern connection, is not required to unlock the initial 6 GW of network capacity of the New England REZ network infrastructure project.

It has been determined the section of transmission line (13kms) north of the proposed North Hub, and a proposed switching station near Boorolong, will not go ahead as part of the current New England REZ network infrastructure project. See map below.

However, Energy Co’s Julian Watson, advised in an ABC NENW radio interview with Kristy Reading, this morning (27 Aug 2026), that the Northern switching station and line will be reassessed again for its inclusion in 10 years time.

This announcement has removed 6 impacted landholders from the project. There are no changes to the hubs or other transmission lines.

💚The Community Garden provided some green abundance again today! 💚🥬

Our latest harvest made its way to the Uralla Neighbourhood Centre Food Pantry, helping support the wonderful work they do in our community.

This week’s offering included bunches of perpetual spinach, rocket, spring onions and kale, as well as a couple of lovely lettuces. 🌱

It’s always a great feeling to see a table piled with fresh produce grown right here in Uralla, ready to be shared with local people. And of course, it's lovely to see the smiling faces of the dedicated and hard working Food Pantry volunteers - Catherine and Kath with today’s haul (with Bev just out of frame)! ☺️

Fresh, chemical-free, locally grown and shared within our community. That’s exactly what we love to see. 🌱

We want to take this opportunity to once again thank our amazing volunteers whose work in the garden make these harvests possible. We REALLY appreciate you. 💚

🌱 Uralla Community Garden Working Bee this Saturday, 1st August 🌱

Spring isn't too far away, and we're getting the garden ready for a busy growing season. If you've been thinking about getting involved in the community or would simply like to spend a few hours outdoors with a friendly group of people, we'd love to see you at this month's Working Bee.

Join us this Saturday from 9:00am to 1:00pm at the Uralla Community Garden (3 Wood Street, Uralla). Whether you're an experienced gardener or have never picked up a trowel before, there'll be plenty of jobs to suit everyone, and we're always happy to share what we know.

This month we'll be:

- Preparing lots of seedlings for our greenhouse ready for spring planting
- Preparing for our new tank watering system installation
- General garden maintenance to keep everything looking its best

You don't need to stay for the whole morning. Come along for as little or as long as you like. Every helping hand makes a real difference.

Morning tea and lunch are provided, so just bring a hat, gloves if you have them, and a willingness to get involved.

If you've been meaning to check out the garden, this is the perfect opportunity to come along, meet the team, and see what we're all about.
