Another busy week at Coomera Scout Group!

There has been plenty happening across all sections this week as our youth members continued to learn new skills, challenge themselves, and have fun along the way.

🚲 Monday Night – Scouts

Our Scouts took part in a bike maintenance session, learning how to check and maintain their bikes in preparation for their upcoming bike hike. Knowing how to keep their equipment in good working order is an important skill for any adventurer!

🎣 Tuesday Night – Cubs

The Cubs spent the evening learning some fishing theory ahead of their upcoming fishing night. From understanding equipment to discussing fishing techniques and safety, they gained valuable knowledge before putting it into practice. They then settled down to plan activities for next term, sharing their ideas and helping shape the program they want to experience.

🧪 Wednesday Night – Joeys

Our Joey Scouts became junior scientists as they conducted a range of science experiments using simple household chemicals. They enjoyed observing the different reactions and learning about the science behind them through hands-on discovery and exploration.

It's fantastic to see our young people developing practical skills, planning their own adventures, and exploring the world around them. We can't wait to see what next week brings!

Thank you to the wonderful team at Oxenford Bunnings for supporting Coomera Scout Group and investing in our community with their generous donation of a 19L Igloo water barrel.

This fantastic donation will be put to great use at our camps, outdoor activities, fundraising events, and community gatherings, helping to keep our young people and volunteers hydrated while they enjoy all the adventures that Scouting has to offer.

Community support like this makes a real difference and helps us continue providing fun, challenging, and rewarding experiences for local youth.

We truly appreciate your generosity and ongoing commitment to local organisations.

Last night, our Group Leader Gecko, was invited as a guest speaker to the Rotary Club of Coomera Valley, where he shared the story of the Coomera Scout Group. From where the group began in November 1983, to where we are today, and our vision for the future.

The members of the Rotary Club were incredibly welcoming, listened with great interest, and were very impressed by how far our group has come over the years. It was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on our journey, celebrate our achievements, and share the exciting direction we are heading as we continue to grow and support young people in our community.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Coomera Valley for the warm welcome and for allowing us to share our story!

What a week at Coomera Scout Group!

Our Scout section kicked off Term 2 diving into a hands-on STEM challenge, exploring the forces of physics and gravity.

Meanwhile, our Joeys and Cubs joined forces for a special visit to our local SES group at Pimpama, gaining a valuable insight into the incredible work they do in our community and across Queensland.

Two weeks in and Term 2 is already shaping up to be a busy and exciting one!

A few weeks ago, the call went out from the Water Activities team for a small group of Cubs to assist leaders in training as they completed their snorkel guide assessments. Coomera Scout Group were quick to put their hand up!

After a couple of weather delays and location changes.… today was finally the day.

Despite the cooler water, our Cubs jumped in with enthusiasm and had an absolute blast, helping these leaders complete an important part of their training. A fantastic experience all around - well done to everyone involved! 👏

ANZAC Day 2026

Despite the wet weather, members from Coomera Scout Group proudly turned out to represent our community at this year’s ANZAC Day March and Service.

With strong representation across our Joeys, Cubs, and Scouts, it was fantastic to see such commitment, respect, and pride on display.

💥 What a way to kick off Term 2 at Coomera Scout Group ! 💥

Our Joeys were flipping the script on dinner… by making PANCAKES! 🥞
From shaking up the mixture to cooking on the pan, everyone got involved - and yes, there may have been a few cheeky taste tests along the way! 😄

Meanwhile, our Cubs launched straight into action with a construction night, building their very own mini catapults! 🛠️ Once built, it was all about testing them out… and let’s just say things were flying! 🚀

Plenty of fun, laughter, and hands-on learning already this term, we can’t wait to see what’s next!

Coomera Scout Group certainly kicked off the year with some adventurous activities across Joeys, Cubs and Scouts in Term 1 ending with a beach sports night for the Scouts, DIY pizza and movie night for Cubs and a Water Activities Level 1 badge night cleverly disguised as a "pool party" for our Joeys!!

While some of our Cubs and Leaders prepare for Cuboree next week, we wish all our members and their families a safe Easter break.

Can't wait to see what's planned for Term 2!!!
