Congratulations to the students, teachers, and staff at Unley Primary School on their outstanding fundraising efforts. With the support of matching funds from the Rotary Club of Unley, these contributions have helped complete an incredible Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project. This initiative has delivered safe toilet facilities and reliable access to clean water at Kampong Kdei High School in Cambodia — a life-changing outcome for the school community. What a meaningful difference you’ve made!

Rotary club of Unley is pleased to announce that Murray Bridge’s Senior Constable First Class David Brown has been named the 2025 South Australia Police Officer of the Year for his dedication to crime prevention in the Murray Mallee region.
The annual award is presented by the Rotary Club of Unley, in partnership with South Australia Police and acknowledges police officers who have made a lasting and profound impact on community service and development.
Fondly referred to as ‘officer everywhere’ by many in the Murray Mallee community, Senior Constable Brown is a familiar face across several initiatives, including Neighbourhood Watch, the Murray Bridge Blue Light boxing program, and ‘Coffee with a Cop’.
His role as a crime prevention officer also includes the delivery of regular school and community talks on bullying and violence, cybercrime awareness, home security advice, and more.
Originally from Liverpool in the United Kingdom, the 49-year-old formerly worked as a Cadbury chocolate sales consultant before making the journey down under in 2006.
After visiting family in Sydney and a 1998 trip backpacking around Australia, SC1C Brown and his wife Christy decided to emigrate here in 2006 and haven’t looked back since.
When driving in Adelaide’s city centre, a SAPOL recruitment advert on the back of a bus caught SC1C Brown's eye and he joined the police academy as a cadet in Course 3 on March 3, 2008.
His 17-year career has so far seen an eight-year stint at Port Pirie as a Probationary Constable, Senior Constable and Acting Sergeant, and periods at smaller Port Germein and Port Broughton stations.
In his spare time, SC1C Brown enjoys exploring outdoors with his family or playing the guitar (badly). He is also a huge fan of English Premier League football, supporting Liverpool Football Club, and also enjoys watching the ‘mighty Reds’, Adelaide United, play at Hindmarsh Stadium.

This week's forecast of heavy rain and cold temperatures is a frosty reminder that winter isn't over yet. ☔

A week like this calls for rugging up and plenty of hot cups of tea to chase the cold away. ☕

It's hard to imagine, but people sleeping rough face the full force of this weather each night, trying their best to find warmth and safety on the streets, in parklands, and any other sheltered places they can find.

That's why we're so thankful to our friends at Rotary Club of Unley for their recent donation of 20 lightweight, waterproof Shelterbags to help people experiencing homelessness keep dry and safe on tough nights.

The Shelterbags work as a cover over a sleeping bag, come with a built-in hood, and can be easily rolled up like a backpack - making them perfect for moving around easily.

Coming at the perfect time, a Code Blue was called the day after the Rotary Club dropped in the Shelterbags and they were very quickly and gratefully received.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Unley for your kind and practical donation, helping people experiencing homelessness to keep dry, warmer, and more comfortable when facing the elements. 🧡
