CMS can help with settlement issues, community development projects, employment, facilitating participation in cultural events & advocacy.

At Centacare Migrant Services (CMS) we provide free services for eligible individuals, families and migrant communities in Cairns and the surrounding regions. Our aim is to encourage and facilitate migrants' full participation in all aspects of community life. Our priorities are newly arrived individuals and families, refugees and humanitarian entrants and new and emerging migrant communities and groups.

Our services are facilitated through a number of programs. These Include:

Individual and Family Settlement Services
Community Advocacy
Humanitarian Settlement Services
Youth Support
Employment Services

Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers provide ongoing practical assistance to new and recently arrived refugees with the aim of empowering them towards independence. CMS engages volunteers in various client support roles including accessing public transport and homework assistance. A volunteer with CMS is someone who has a commitment to social justice, well developed communication skills, is keen to learn about the challenges faced by refugees and migrants and has a strong commitment to working in a culturally appropriate manner.
