On 7–8 October, the WAGGGS community will come together for 36 hours of global giving to celebrate International Day of the Girl and help transform the lives of girls and young women around the world.

As an OB-PS Member, WAGGGS Giving Day is a chance for all of us to play our part: whether that’s making a gift or becoming a Giving Day Champion and sharing the campaign with your network.

Our District Manager, Wolli, recently joined community leaders from the and in a collaborative leadership program, includinga cultural exchange program. Facilitated tours of local cultural institutions were organised in each of the LGA. A special tour was organised during to the historical in our own LGA. Like Girl Guides and Girl Scouts meet around the world, the world meets right here in our LGA, in one of the most diverse cities in Australia.

It has been a tremendous privilege to share the success of Guiding with other dedicated community leaders and they have shown a keen interest in our efforts to empower women and girls to reach their potential as leaders of their worlds. Through mentorship, skill building and non-formal education, Guiding continues to offer members the opportunity realise their power of their voice and sense of adventure.

If there was going to be a weekend of and this was it! The Cumberland Plains Region joined their friends in South Coast & Highlands for a bumper weekend of adventure and fun.

From our youngest to our eldest Guides, every one had the opportunity to challenge themselves physically and mentally and did they ever!!

Great food, great times, great songs...what a way to bring in the warmer months.

Massive BRAVO to the camp committee, Catering team and all the volunteers who made the weekend possible.

Aunty Jennifer Newman joined Earlwood Junior Guides, along with Marrickville and Haberfield Junior Guides to mark World Thinking Day. She spent one of the hottest days in the calendar with us and shared such formidable stories about her own family as well as stories of this stories of early settlement of this area. Her time with us is treasured with considerable fondness. This tribute is only fitting for this former Girl Guide who shared so much with this community.

Aunty Jennifer Newman was a proud Wiradjuri woman, a story-teller and an important figure in our community.

She was a fearless advocate, member of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, and champion of the Cooks River as the Cooks River Valley Association's President.

It was my honour to join her family and friends in unveiling Council's official memorial artwork in honour of Aunty Jennifer Newman - located off the banks of the Cooks River at Ewen Park, Hurlstone Park.
