The Shire of Gingin is seeking an experienced Principal Environmental Health Officer to lead the delivery of high-quality environmental health services across the region. This strategic role oversees compliance, monitoring, and community education programs while providing expert advice to Council and senior leadership on complex environmental health matters.

🔹 Contract (3 Years), Full-time
🔹 Package from $131,737.12 to $137,986.22 (inc. super)
🔹 Vehicle (Commuting use only)
🔹 Location: Shire of Gingin/Hybrid

𝗪𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵:

✅High level organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple projects and competing demands to meet deadlines.
✅High level initiative and lateral problem-solving skills.
✅Strong understanding of Local Government legislative framework, particularly the application of the Public Health Act 2016, Local Government Act 1995, Food Act 2008 and the ability to interpret legislation.

⚠️ 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁 - 𝗡𝗼𝗼𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗿

Noogoora burr is a declared pest for the whole of Western Australia. Infestations have been detected in the Pilbara region (DeGrey River catchment), Perth and near Denmark on the south coast.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀:

◼️ reduces production in crops and pasture by competing for moisture, nutrients and light
◼️ is poisonous to stock at the seedling stage
◼️ may cause discomfort and injury to stock, particularly sheep
◼️ high processing cost to remove burr from wool

📲 The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are encouraging community members to report suspected sightings to the MyPestGuide® Reporter via the app or online https://www.dpird.wa.gov.au/online-tools/mypestguide/ .

👍 Prompt action is necessary to assist in eradication, please note the date, time and location of the pest and take photographs (if possible).
