The Impact of Care That Changes Lives 🩷

Foster and kinship care is more than a service - it’s a lifeline.

When children and young people experience uncertainty, trauma, or disruption, the presence of a safe, stable, and caring environment can change the course of their lives. Foster and kinship carers play a vital role in helping children heal, grow in confidence, and reconnect with a sense of belonging.

Through everyday moments - meals at the table, support with school, words of encouragement - carers help rebuild trust and create the foundations for brighter futures. Their care strengthens not just individual lives, but families and communities as a whole.

At Foundations Care, we recognise that this journey is not always easy. It takes resilience, patience, and unwavering compassion.

To every foster and kinship carer across Queensland: thank you, again.

Thank you for the difference you make each day, and for the futures you help shape with your care.

Celebrating Queensland Foster & Kinship Carer Week

This week, we pause to recognise the extraordinary people who open their hearts and homes to children and young people in need.

At Foundations Care, we see every day the quiet strength, compassion, and dedication that foster and kinship carers bring to their role. You create safe spaces where children can feel valued, supported, and hopeful - often during some of the most challenging times in their lives.

Your care goes far beyond providing a home. You offer stability, encouragement, and a sense of belonging that helps shape brighter futures. The impact you make is lasting and immeasurable.

To every carer across Queensland: thank you.

Thank you for showing up, for standing strong, and for believing in the potential of every child.

We are deeply grateful for the difference you make in the lives of children, families, and communities.

As National Reconciliation Week comes to a close, our commitment continues.

This week has been a time to reflect, learn, and consider what it truly means to be “All In” for reconciliation, not just in words, but through our actions.

At Foundations Care, this commitment is deeply connected to the work we do in foster and kinship care. Every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and connected to their identity, culture, and community. For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, this means recognising the importance of family, culture, and Country in their care journey.

Being “All In” means:
• Supporting placements that honour cultural connections
• Walking alongside carers to build cultural understanding
• Listening to and respecting the voices of First Nations children, families, and communities

Reconciliation is not a moment in time. It’s an ongoing responsibility. As we move beyond this week, we remain committed to creating culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive care for every child.

Because when we are all in, we help create stronger futures for children, families, and communities.

Reconciliation is something we practice – EVERY DAY!

National Reconciliation Week is a time to reflect, but it’s also a call to action. The 2026 theme, “All In,” reminds us that meaningful change happens when we move beyond awareness and take real steps toward inclusion and respect.

At Foundations Care, we’re continuing to listen, learn, and seek ways to better support and stand alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Whether it’s through building stronger relationships, deepening our cultural understanding, or creating safer, more inclusive spaces, every action matters.

Reconciliation isn’t a one-week commitment.
It’s an ongoing journey we take together.

What’s one action you can take today to be ‘all in’?

This National Reconciliation Week, we’re all in.

From 27 May to 3 June, we reflect on our shared histories, learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and recommit to building respectful relationships for a stronger, more united Australia.

The 2026 theme, “All In,” reminds us that reconciliation is not a spectator sport. It calls on each of us, individually and collectively, to take meaningful action, every day.

At Foundations Care, we recognise that true reconciliation is built through listening, learning, and walking alongside First Nations communities with respect, humility, and care. We are committed to creating inclusive spaces where culture is recognised, voices are heard, and equity is championed.

This week is an opportunity to reflect - but also to act.
To strengthen relationships.
To challenge ourselves.
To be part of lasting change.

Because reconciliation will not happen by itself, we must all be all in.
