Umina Community Group is an enthusiastic body of local residents committed to enhancing the suburb of Umina Beach. We do this through active participation in community programs and working with Central Coast Council and other government bodies. Our growing community, along with our many visitors, means improvements to local infrastructure, the environment, and services in Umina Beach are essential to allow the suburb to thrive as a modern coastal community.

We are thrilled that Central Coast Council has allocated funding to replace the toilet block at Umina Beach in 2027. It will greatly benefit many of our community with disability needs and especially Central Coast Disabled Surfers Association

Update: Umina Amenities Block
At Tuesday nights Council meeting, a motion to allocate $650K from Strategic Funds for the reconstruction of the amenities block with design development, approvals in 2026/27 for completion in 2027/28 put forward by Councillor Belinda Neal and seconded by Councillor Trent McWaide. The motion was finally passed after months of motions failing. Thank you to Councillor Neal for not giving up. Councillor McWaide for coming on board and delivering a great speech. Have you noticed the flocks of corellas on the sand dunes? They have come to feed on the acacia seeds that are in abundance at this time of year. The cockatoos and lorikeets are also enjoying the free feed. Fairywrens are in high numbers, they enjoy flitting around the scrubby bushes. Just another reason why the dune system is so important, providing habitat and food source to our wildlife.
Dune regeneration volunteers meet on Wed mornings. If you would like to become involved, send us a message or email [email protected].

It is great to see that the missing link pathway from Melbourne Ave to Brisbane Ave is now complete. Walking to school will be significantly safer for children and their families. This project was extensively advocated for by local residents. Thank you to Central Coast Council and the NSW government for construction and funding. Central Coast Council Liesl Tesch MP

🌊 Beach Clean-Up at Umina Beach – August 10

As part of her Community Service Project through the Gosford RSL Club Max Potential program, Michaela from St Joseph’s Catholic College is leading a local beach clean-up to help tackle the growing issue of marine litter.

šŸ“ Peninsula Recreation Precinct, Umina Beach
šŸ•“ Saturday 10 August | 4:00 PM

Over 75% of marine debris in Australia is plastic—and beaches like Umina are among the most affected. Michaela’s goal is to bring the community together to protect our coastline, marine life, and local environment.

Everyone is welcome! Bring your gloves and your passion for a cleaner coast. 🌿

Feeling the winter blues? Check out these tips to improve energy efficiency in your home.

1. Check your energy bill and compare different energy providers. Are you getting the best deal possible? https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/
2. Understand how and when you use power.
3. Change behaviours - do you have a spare (party) fridge? Is it always on? Perhaps turn it off until you need it. Run hungry appliances in the off-peak electricity period, not peak period.
4. Look for draughts in your home. Are you losing heat that you want to keep in or letting in cold that you want to keep out? Can you use low cost items to block off the draughts?
5. Can you get a government grant or rebate to upgrade appliances, install solar or help with energy costs?

We put together some great resources on the UCG website that you can find here. https://www.uminacommunitygroup.com.au/greening-umina/ (scroll down to ā€œUseful Informationā€).
