BUDDY BAGS …. We’re launching a new initiative today to help address a need identified after recent discussions with local NW emergency shelter carers in particular.

This has arisen from a vision Ruth Marshall has had for some time. Ruth is President of CC Probus and is a new member of the CWA committee. It is a collaborative effort.

We invite community friends or groups to be involved with donations of any of the listed items. Another alternative is to sponsor the cost of a Buddy Bag. They must be in NEW condition.

More fabulous donations received today! They’re so beautiful and well done - made with love and care. It was also great to receive a parcel from our sister at the CWA On-line Branch, Denise Fordyce from Middlesex with hand knitted items.💛 Also thank you to Pauline Blackman for fabric and lace she gave to us, but I didn’t get a photo unfortunately.

Check out our Buddy Bear labels, sewn on the reverse side. Bears are also checked for safety standards eg no gaps for little fingers or loose ribbons.

There’s more bears to do, if you like hand sewing whilst watching a favourite show. Just contact us.

It was wonderful to have Michael Lizotte from TANA join almost 30 of us today, to introduce us to this vital work being done to create trauma awareness and how to address it in our lives. Michael combined the neurological science with warm personal anecdotes and he did an amazing job compressing so much info into such a short time slot.

We hope to build on this very basic start with more comprehensive TANAtalks, down the track for those who wish to dig deeper. The need is great.😔

The importance of CONNECTING and KINDNESS was stressed … as echoed in The CWA Collect.

It was timely having a guy in our midst to draw our Father’s Day raffle. 8 lucky people out of about 1000 tickets will be getting a pleasant surprise today. One of the winners was a newbie (Judie) to our CWA meeting, so she got a great introduction!🤗

Our sponsors have been so generous and supportive - we are sincerely grateful.

Special thanks to Helen D and Ambra in particular for their hard work sourcing and organising donations, selling tickets etc. We are very fortunate to have hard working women committed to advancing CWA projects to support our community.💛💛

What’s a CWA without an apron?!? Preparing for our 1st Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on Sunday in Devonport, our clever secretary Helen Pratt created and sewed on the CWA logo to these black aprons. This took some time and we are grateful for her talented efforts!👏

Are we officially CWA now?😜

Our 3 new fabulous committee members were also warmly welcomed in to their role - Ambra, Ruth and Lyn.🙈🙊🙉

PS There are only 6 aprons so Jenny’s not wearing one … not because she has an aversion to work in the kitchen😬🙂

A big shout out to the ever so friendly and helpful Ebony from CCC who helped us today sync our laptop with the screen at our CWA meeting! Our ‘guardian tech angel’ 😇patiently explained to this old chook which precise cable and port to use. Notes were taken and hopefully she won’t need to revisit us. Having the Montgomery Room so close to CC Chambers is a bonus. Thank you Ebony (again).👏💛
