Day two of Volunteer’s Camp was such a blast, despite the weather! 🙌☔️

We started our day off the right way with a devo and praying together, setting our attention on our King Jesus! 👑

After breakfast, another fantastic study from Darren, and a beautiful time of praise in Seaview, we jumped into some fun games! Frozen chicken crab soccer (don’t worry - thoroughly wrapped) was a massive hit! 🍗🦀⚽️ Some fantastic in-air kayak relays were also featured! 🥸🛶

We had some extra friends join us for our Child Safety training in the middle of the day, the more the merrier! ✝️ And then we braved some activities while having a boogie to some VeggieTales songs! 🕺🪢

After some scrumptious tea, we had some amazing mini sessions - from Lauren, Isaac and Alyssa, and Addie, talking about mental health, sharing testimonies, and becoming who God’s made us to be! 🎤

Then we headed on down to Seaview once again to finish off the night with Darren bringing the Word and worshipping God together! 🎹

How good was night one of Volunteers Camp!! 🙌

We started off with some classic four square in the air, before we jumped into some get to know you games, where we found out a lot of very fun facts about each other 😆🏐

Melle talked about our mission at Camp Clayton, and Mel and Liv brought some great games to share in future cabins, finishing off with a mooing contest between Daniel and Darren!! 🐮🤠

We finished the night praising our Heavenly Father, and hearing from Darren about what worship means. He shared a quote from Bruce Leafblad, saying true worship is to ‘center our minds’ attention and hearts’ affection on the Lord’ 🤍

We are so keen for what this weekend holds!! ☀️

🌿 SAVE THE DATE | A PLACE TO BELONG

For generations, Camp Clayton has been more than a campsite. It has been a place where young people find connection, experience challenge, grow in confidence, build lifelong friendships and encounter Jesus.

On Saturday 21 November, we’re bringing together the Camp Clayton family, supporters, churches, businesses and friends for a special Gala Dinner ~ A Place to Belong.

It will be an evening to celebrate the ministry of Camp Clayton, share some of the stories of lives being impacted, and look ahead to what God has in store for the future.

It will also be an opportunity to raise funds towards the many areas of our ministry that make Camp Clayton what it is, from our PEAK internship program and Child Support Fund (CSF), to our holiday camps, and supporting campers to attend, developing our facilities and continuing to create a place where young people can belong, grow and experience Jesus.

There is so much happening at Camp Clayton, and none of it happens alone.

For almost 80 years, people have prayed, served, volunteered, donated and invested in this ministry so the next generation could experience Camp Clayton.

Now we get to continue that story.

What an exciting season for Camp Clayton! 🏕️🙌

From brand new High Ropes challenges to the transformation of Bayside Lodge, there is a LOT happening around Camp right now! 🤩

We’re incredibly thankful to Felix Ellis MP and the Tasmanian Government for investing in the future of Camp Clayton and helping make these major projects possible.

We’re also so grateful for the huge amount of work happening behind the scenes from our staff, volunteers, builders and contractors to bring it all together.

And the best part? These upgrades are already becoming places where young people will laugh, overcome fears, build confidence, connect and make memories together.

That’s what it’s all about. ❤️🏕️

The future at Camp Clayton is looking pretty exciting! 🙌

Melle Zwerver is a big bloke with a even bigger heart❤️

His leadership has taken Camp Clayton to even greater heights, giving more young Tasmanians life changing experiences.

That's why we've backed him and the team with major new upgrades.

New bathroom facilities and room upgrades to make camp more comfortable, particularly for families.

New water systems to keep costs down.

And of course new high ropes challenges to help young people conquer their fears and find new confidence.

Camp Clayton has been an integral part of growing up on the Coast.

And by working together we're helping to secure its future for the next generation🙌

🇨🇦 LEARNING, COLLABORATING & BRINGING IDEAS HOME! 🏕️

Right now, our Operations Manager Aidan is halfway through an incredible two-week study tour of Christian camps across Canada, travelling alongside leaders from Christian Camping New Zealand. 🇳🇿🇨🇦

Over the two weeks they’re visiting 17 Christian camps across Ontario and British Columbia, from some of the largest operations through to smaller and more specialised camps.

The tour is all about learning, collaboration and equipping leaders. It’s an opportunity to spend time with others who share the same heart for Christian camping, build relationships, ask lots of questions and see firsthand how different organisations put their vision and mission into practice.

They’re exploring everything from site layouts, accommodation and facilities to activities, staffing, systems and day-to-day operations, and how all of those pieces can work together to strengthen mission and improve efficiency.

Back in 2024, Melle, our CEO, and Daniel, then a Board member and now our Ministry and PEAK Coordinator, undertook a similar international Christian camping study tour to the USA. We found the opportunity to step outside Camp Clayton, learn from other camps and build relationships incredibly valuable.

So when Aidan chose to invest in this opportunity, we were really pleased to support him and give him the time to go, learn and be equipped.

We want our leaders to keep growing. To look beyond Camp Clayton, learn from others, share what we’ve learned ourselves and come home with fresh eyes and new ideas.

And one of Aidan’s reflections halfway through has actually been pretty encouraging: while there is plenty to learn and bring home, seeing so many other camps has also highlighted just how much Camp Clayton is already doing well as we continue our mission to reach young people for Christ. 🙌

Of course, there has been one slight problem… 😂

Anyone who knows Aidan knows he has been campaigning for an excavator at Camp Clayton for YEARS.

Unfortunately, Canada appears to have provided him with an alarming amount of additional “research material”. 🚜😂

Three and a half weeks later… 🤩👏🏕️

Yesterday, the first three newly renovated Bayside Lodge bathrooms officially came online! 🙌

What do you reckon? 🤷‍♂️🤔

We’re incredibly grateful to our builder, contractors and especially the many volunteers who have rolled up their sleeves to help make this happen.

And a huge thank you to the Tasmanian Government for supporting this project. Without their funding, upgrades like these simply wouldn’t be possible.

Three down, six to go! 💪🔨

We reckon staying at Bayside Lodge just became a whole lot fancier! 🤩🏕️

A little more love for our Games Room! 🏓⚽️🏒

Recently we were able to retire our very well-loved (and VERY well-used! 😂) old air hockey table and replace it with a brand-new one — as well as adding a foosball table to the mix!

Both came from Tassie Table Sports in Spreyton, and they fit amazingly into our Games Room. Judging by how quickly they’ve been put to use, we think they’re going to see plenty of action over the coming years!

It’s all part of the recent facelift of this space, including the awesome mural created by our PEAK25 participants and designed in-house with BAZ. 🎨🙌

We love continuing to invest in the spaces around Camp Clayton — not necessarily by making everything shiny and fancy, but by keeping them welcoming, fun and relevant for the thousands of young people and guests who spend time here each year.

And sometimes… good stewardship means admitting the old air hockey table has finally done enough! 😂

Come have a game! 🏒⚽️
