Want to use your engineering skills to make a real impact? 🌏🛠️

Engineers Without Borders university chapters are looking for university student mentors for Design for Humanity 2026! A four-week humanitarian engineering program bringing together university mentors and high school students from across Sydney.

❓What will I do as a mentor?
As a mentor, you'll guide a team of high school students as they develop a solution to a real-world humanitarian engineering challenge spanning renewable energy, water, circular economy, accessible engineering and community resilience.

You'll help your team understand their challenge, develop and evaluate ideas, and turn their solution into something they can present at the Design for Humanity Final Showcase at UNSW.

📅 Program: 21 September – 19 October 2026
🚀 Kick-off Day: 21 September @ University of Sydney or Western Sydney University (Penrith)
🏆 Final Showcase: 19 October @ UNSW

❓What are my commitments as a mentor?
• The in-person Kick-off Day
• 4 online mentor workshops
• 4 online meetings with your high school team
• The in-person Final Showcase at UNSW

And in return, you'll receive 20 AHEGS-recognised hours for your contribution. USYD students can receive 20 PEP hours.

Whether you're interested in sustainability, humanitarian engineering, design, leadership or simply want to help the next generation of engineers, this is a chance to develop your own mentoring and communication skills.
