This week, ASDACS and ADG Executive Director Sophie Harper is in Paris for the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) General Assembly. The event marks 100 years since CISAC began supporting collection organisations across the globe to ensure creators get the royalties they’re owed for the screening of their work.

Sophie was delighted to catch up with colleagues from the Directors Guild of Korea, with whom ASDACS established an international agreement in 2019. We look forward to working closely together to support the rights and recognition of directors in both our countries.

Building a sustainable career as a director is getting harder, and ADG and ASDACS have set out what needs to change in a major government submission. Drawing on member input, the submission to the National Cultural Policy review highlights the challenges directors face and the solutions to building a stronger screen industry for everyone.

.workplaces is currently running a survey to help them understand the working experiences of people in Australia’s creative industries.

It focuses on key workplace issues including:

- pay and working conditions
- safety at work
- bullying, discrimination and harassment.

What they learn will help us to determine future policies, support programs, advocacy efforts and training opportunities aimed at improving standards and safety in creative workplaces.

Share your experiences and help create the first national picture of what it’s really like to work in Australia’s creative industries.
