📢 UPCOMING WORKS – TYERS COMMUNITY PARK 🌳

Latrobe City Council will soon commence works at Tyers Community Park to create a new barbecue shelter and picnic area.

🚧 Works are expected to commence in August 2026 and will include:
• Demolition of the existing shelter, barbecue, water fountain and concrete slab
• Construction of a new 4m x 6m shelter and concrete slab in a new location
• Installation of a new double barbecue, water fountain and picnic table

For everyone’s safety, the existing shelter and construction area will be fully fenced while works are underway.

Works are expected to be completed by November 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.

We know the temporary disruption will be worth it as we see another great improvement to our community park. 🌿

Please take note of the work area and keep clear of the site while construction is underway.

Have you noticed the progress on the drain in Bert Christensen Reserve? Work is progressing well into Stage 1.

This Project is being delivered by Latrobe City Council and is aiming to improve the functionality and aesthetics of the waterway traversing through Bert Christensen Reserve. There are two stages to this project, stage 1 includes the following:
• Removal of broken concrete from the existing waterway
• Widening of the waterway
• Placement of rock beaching to mitigate erosion around critical aspects of the waterway
• Inclusion of a concrete mower strip to improve maintainability of the grassed areas
• New fencing and trees at bridge abutments

Stage 2 will follow closely and will include all the landscaping to plant several species of plants, shrubs, and grasses throughout the waterway.

We are excited to announce that as part of Latrobe City Council’s Capital Works Program, a contractor has been appointed to undertake the renewal of the BBQ shelter within the Tyers Community Park.

Works will include:
• Demolishing the existing shelter, BBQ, water fountain, and concrete slab.
• Building a new 4 x 6 m shelter and slab.
• Installing new double BBQ, water fountain, and picnic table within the shelter.

For the duration of the works, both the existing shelter area and the new location will be completely
fenced off to ensure public safety.

It is anticipated that these works will commence in September 2026 and be completed by November
2026. Once a start date has been confirmed, the community association will advise the community via our page.

✨ Something exciting is taking shape for Christmas in Tyers! 🎄

If you've been around Tyers for a few Christmases, you might remember some of our much-loved festive signs, like the one pictured. 🎄

While we don’t give too much away just yet... 👀🎄 we are excited to let you know that come December, a collection of brand-new, modern festive signs will make their debut across Tyers, thanks to the support of Latrobe City Council's Community Grants Program.

And this is just the beginning! 🤩🎅🏻
We've got plenty more exciting decorations and festive surprises in the works, and we can't wait to share them with you.

Community is at the heart of everything the Tyers & District Community Assoc. do and we're proud to support programs that help our young people learn, grow and thrive.

Tyers Auskick provides local children with the opportunity to build confidence, develop skills, make friendships and most importantly, have fun in a safe and supportive environment.

A huge thank you to the volunteers, coaches and families who make Auskick possible each week. We're proud and delighted to be involved once again and to know that our contribution this year has helped provide equipment that will benefit current and future Auskickers.

Together, we're investing in the future of our community — one kick, mark and smile at a time. 🏉🧡

Tomorrow is launch day for the Tyers Community Playgroup and you and your little one are warmly invited to join us.

This playgroup is designed especially for children aged 0 to 5 years and their caregivers, offering a relaxed and welcoming space to play, explore, and connect with other local families. It is a simple, friendly setting where children can enjoy play based activities while grown ups have the chance to meet, chat, and build community.

Location: Traralgon Tyers United Football Netball Club
Tyers Recreation Reserve, Tyers 3844
Time: 9:30 am to 11:00 am
Day: Fridays during school term

Lest we forget 🌺

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful community for coming together this morning to commemorate ANZAC Day in Tyers. Your presence is what makes this service so meaningful year after year.

We’re grateful to the City of Traralgon Band, Lavalla Catholic College Year 12 student Lucy Barnes for her beautiful singing, and the students and staff of Tyers Primary School for their involvement.

A very special thank you to our guest speaker, Ash Daniel, whose words were deeply moving and left a lasting impression on all who attended.

And to everyone who worked quietly behind the scenes — from organising, to cooking and baking — thank you. Your efforts helped bring the morning together in a way that truly honoured the occasion.
