It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of former Tumut Rodeo Club President and long-standing member, Pat Webb.
Pat was part of the Tumut Rodeo Club for many years and gave an incredible amount of his time to the club. He served as Vice President from 1974 to 1977, before taking on the role of President from 1977 to 1982, and again for a year in 1989.
But Pat’s contribution to the club went well beyond the positions he held.
Pat played an important role in establishing the Tumut Rodeo Club’s own string of rodeo horses. He was heavily involved with the horses and gave countless hours to their care, transport and everything that came with keeping them ready for rodeo day.
When Pat had his stock semi, he would cart the horses to rodeos and was part of the strong relationship between the Tumut and Tumbarumba Rodeo Clubs. The two clubs would supply horses for each other’s events, and Pat played a big part in making that happen.
It was a huge commitment, but one Pat willingly made for the club. Those horses became an important part of the Tumut Rodeo Club’s history, and so did Pat.
One of the things those who knew Pat remember so fondly was his incredible memory. He could recall the people, the rodeos, the stories and the happenings of the club from years gone by. He carried with him so much of the history of the Tumut Rodeo Club, and there was always a story to be told.
For a club like ours, people like Pat are incredibly special. They are the people who put in the hours, do the jobs that need doing and help build the club that future generations get to enjoy.
We are incredibly grateful for everything Pat gave to the Tumut Rodeo Club over the years and proud that he will always be part of our club’s history.
On behalf of our committee and members, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Pat’s family and friends.
Thank you, Pat, for the years, the memories and everything you gave to the Tumut Rodeo Club.
Rest easy, mate.
