A beautiful memory from the very first time UBUNTU came to Australia. ❤️

On a street corner in Melbourne, a First Nations busker playing the didgeridoo and our young African performers simply found one another.

There was no plan. No rehearsal. No introductions needed.

Two cultures, one rhythm—and a little bit of magic on Flinders Street. 🖤💛❤️ 🌍

This is UBUNTU: I am because we are.

🇺🇬 LIVE FROM UGANDA… it’s Abraham & Barnett! 😂

Our two hosts and team leaders are apparently VERY excited about the arrival of 14 Aussies on 26 September.

Although judging by this little video, we’re not entirely sure whether we’ve booked tour leaders or Uganda’s answer to Roy & HG. 🤣

24 days to go, boys. You have absolutely no idea what’s coming. 🇦🇺✈️🇺🇬😂

A little update from me! ❤️🇺🇬

As President of KwaYa Australia, I’m getting ready to head back to Uganda next month on our 10th KwaYa journey. It’s hard to believe we’re up to number 10!

Over the next few weeks I’m going to share a little of what goes on behind the scenes as we prepare — and once we arrive, I’ll take you along for the journey.

This is a snippet of our Aussie volunteers travelling on our 8th Kwaya trip. They taught the kids in the slums of Uganda "You're the Voice". Next month it will be our 10th trip. I still get goosebumps when I see moments like these on tour. Suffice to say, my bumps remain goosed for most of the tour. This was 7 years ago. I wonder what these kids are doing now?

Meet a couple behind the scenes who are on the job a year out from the arrival date.

Fiona Aitken – is trying to work out how we can hire a 30 - 33 seater bus. Apparently, that size is a little hard to find. The last tour was only a 25-seater, and with 22 passengers plus "stuff" let's say things were a little bit "up close and personal".

Suzie White coordinates many of our NSW stops. She's on the hunt for Area Hosts in new areas, Armidale, Kempsey, Newcastle and Tamworth. And then there’s me… pulling faces, juggling things not very well, and occasionally being a *little* dramatic.

It’s a long road to UBUNTU 2027, but we’re off and running, hosts are coming on board, plans are forming, and it’s already feeling exciting.

I wanted to share a small but powerful story from Uganda.
Two of the families who recently received Christmas food hampers looked “ok” from the outside, but when our volunteers stepped into their homes, there was no food at all. Empty cupboards. Empty pots. This grandma and mum were quietly doing it tough.
Because of two generous Aussies, that changed. Food in the kitchen. Enough to feed their families for the next couple of weeks. And such deep gratitude.
This is why we do the Humble Hampers each Christmas, simple, practical, and genuinely life-giving.
