🌟Continuing the Community Spirit – Memories of the VRI Hall🌟
Many people in our community hold fond memories of the VRI Hall. While we are no longer leasing the building and overseeing it's use, we want to reassure everyone that the access has not changed for the community.
You can continue to hire the space by contacting www.vri.org.au directly or phoning 1300 883 763
The decision not to renew the lease was made after careful consideration. While the building itself will no longer be part of our operations, the community connections and activities that grew from that space remain an important part of what we do and as part of the legacy of the Neighbourhood House.
Over many decades the VRI Hall hosted countless moments long before the Neighbourhood House started using it. It held dances, celebrations, tennis games, community meetings and lifelong friendships formed. On my first day, someone told me about a couple who met playing tennis there in the 1960s and later married.
To help capture some of this local history, we have connected with university history students who are interested in documenting memories of the hall and its place in our community.
Did you attend dances there?
Celebrate a 21st birthday?
Meet your first love?
We would love to hear your stories.
Please feel welcome to pop in and share your memories with us, or send them via email to [email protected]
Together we can help preserve the stories and history of a place that has meant so much to our community.
