The Object of Rotary
---------------------------------------
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupa

tions; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service. Avenues of Service
---------------------------------------
For years, Rotaryโ€™s commitment to Service Above Self has been channeled through the Avenues of Service, which form the foundation of club activity. Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the effective functioning of the club. Vocational Service encourages Rotarians to serve others through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards. Observed each October, Vocational Service Month spotlights Rotary club projects related to this avenue, offering opportunity for clubs and districts to use their professional skills in service projects. International Service encompasses actions taken to expand Rotaryโ€™s humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world understanding and peace. Rotarians can support International Service by sponsoring a project in another country, seeking international project partners to support projects in their own communities, or by personally volunteering at an international project site. Visit the ProjectLINK database to post a project in need of assistance, find projects to support, or learn about successfully completed projects to replicate. New Generations Service recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities as RYLA, Rotaract and Interact, service projects, and creating international understanding with Rotary Youth Exchange. The Four-Way Test
---------------------------------------
The test, which has been translated into more than 100 languages, asks the following questions:

Of the things we think, say or do

Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? Mission
---------------------------------------
The mission of Rotary International is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. See the RI Strategic Plan. Diversity and Rotary
---------------------------------------
Rotary International recognizes the value of diversity within individual clubs. Rotary encourages clubs to assess those in their communities who are eligible for membership, under existing membership guidelines, and to endeavor to include the appropriate range of individuals in their clubs. A club that reflects its community with regard to professional and business classification, gender, age, religion, and ethnicity is a club with the key to its future. http://rotary.org/

Thank you to everyone who has donated this week!

The Give a Damn, Give a Can appeal has been a familiar and beloved part of this community for over 30 years, and every year you show up and remind us why we do it. Thank YOU!

If you'd still love to give to this worthy cause, the red bins are still out, send us a message and we'll help you find one near you. Our team gets busy collecting all donations from tomorrow.

It's Give a Damn, Give a Can collection week and there's still time to donate!

Not sure what to grab? Think baked beans, tomato soup, pasta sauce, tuna or salmon, corn, peas, fruit salad, peaches, chunky soup, spaghetti, coconut cream, pineapple or vegemite. Any food in a can or glass jar. We even accept cereal like Weet-Bix as long as it's within the use-by date.

Pop a few extra in your trolley next time you're at the supermarket and drop them in one of our red bins. Every single can makes a difference.

We're thrilled to launch our 2026 "Give a Damn, Give a Can" Campaign!

For over 30 years, the Rotary Club of Traralgon Central's annual Give a Damn, Give a Can initiative has been a signature project and a much-loved community tradition. Partnering with Vinnies Australia Traralgon, our club has collected over 240,000 cans of food for families in need in Traralgon and surrounds.

We're collecting cans right now through to Saturday 24th May.

Keep an eye out for the red wheelie bins on your local nature strips. Donations are also welcomed from schools, businesses, sports clubs, community organisations and aged care facilities.

Your generosity makes this work possible. Together we can make a real difference.

Today is a sad day for our Club.

We give thanks for the life, commitment and service of our esteemed member, PP David Blythman PHF.

David gave so much to Rotary and to the community.

We will miss his friendship, humour, strategic ideas, and his BBQ-ing.

Vale, our friend. Rest well.

Peace be with Annette and all David's family.

Lest we forget.

Today, we will lay our wreath at the Traralgon Cenotaph.

We will honour those who gave all, in sacrifice for all of us.

It is also a time to reflect on the conflicts across the world right now, and the innocent people impacted by wars they did not choose.

As Rotarians, we ask and hope for peace on earth.

Sunday 1 March is Clean up Australia day!

And we all know what that means, don't we?

Yes - it's time for our annual Clean Up the Creek project.

We would love to see you all on Sunday morning at 9 am to help us clean up the Traralgon Creek surrounds.

We will be clearing between Agnes Brereton Park and the bridge over Shakespeare Street, depending upon volunteer numbers.

Details: 9 am meet up at the car park, Bert Thompson Reserve. We have gloves, safety vests, and rubbish bags; and feel free to bring your own safety gloves if you have them. *Please wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear.

You will be asked to sign up and register on the day, for Clean Up Australia records and insurance.

West Traralgon Rover Unit - will you join us on Sunday? You were such a big help last year and we would love to see you.

Thanks - we appreciate your support for our project!
