🇦🇺 Vietnam Veterans' Day Memorial Service 🇦🇺

The RSL Barcaldine Sub Branch invites members of the community to join us in commemorating Vietnam Veterans' Day.

📅 Tuesday, 18 August 2026
🕚 11:00 am (please be seated or in attendance by 10:50 am)
📍 Ash Street Memorial, near the Barcaldine Post Office

Vietnam Veterans' Day marks the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan on 18 August 1966, one of the most significant battles involving Australian forces during the Vietnam War. It is a day to honour the courage, service and sacrifice of the almost 60,000 Australians who served in Vietnam between 1962 and 1975, and to acknowledge the support and sacrifices made by their families.

We encourage everyone in our community to come together to remember those who served, reflect on their contribution, and pay our respects to all Vietnam veterans.

We still have a few seats left for our FREE Aquascene Sunset Cruise this Saturday.

It will include their usual informative commentary while sightseeing and then the boat will stop for The Ode to be recited at 6pm on the way back to the marina.

All members are welcome to go on the passenger list, but Priority will be given to service and ex-service members (with partner) then social members.

Lest we forget.

Friday, 12 June 2026 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Black Hawk Tragedy that occurred in the Townsville Field Training Area in 1996. On this solemn anniversary, we pause to honour those who lost their lives in service to Australia. To remember families, friends and colleagues whose lives were forever changed, and to reflect on the enduring legacy of professionalism, courage and sacrifice demonstrated by those members.
