The Golden Octopus Foundation is a childhood cancer charity founded by Keely Johnson 22nd April, 2015. The logo and the Octopus represents the eight arms of childhood cancer. Overall there are eight main groups (many sub groups) of childhood cancer so the Golden Octopus Foundation covers all types of childhood cancer with support for the children and families, raising awareness, raising funds to

improve oncology services in regional areas including the implementation of childhood cancer nurses in the community, and assisting in providing much needed funds (by supporting other foundations in achieving this) towards research and a long term goal of assisting families in accessing trials. The Golden Octopus Foundation Committee is formed by a group of educated and experienced women and men who are parents, relatives or friends of children affected by cancer. They share the same goal of finding a cure for this horrible disease and providing support and funds to achieve the objectives of the foundation. The Golden Octopus Foundation covers all of Australia and will initially upgrade facilities across Queensland and employ community childhood nurses in each area and work across all states. The foundation has been accredited by the ACNC as a PBI public benevolent institution and an Advanced Health Charity. Both categories are extremely hard to achieve accreditation as a charity.
