๐Ÿˆ FROM TOWNSVILLE TO BALLYMORE! ๐Ÿˆ

We could not be prouder of our very own NW superstar, Jordan Neal! ๐ŸŒŸ

This Sunday, Jordan will earn her very first cap against the ACT Brumbies! ๐Ÿ”ด๐Ÿ’ช

A few of us might be feeling a *little* bit tender from our Ladies Day celebrations ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿพ, but nothing is going to stop us from cheering for her!

Let's get behind our girl! Check out her incredible journey from Townsville to the big stage here: https://reds.rugby/news/new-reds-womens-debutant-jordan-neal-meshing-rugby-and-a-defence-force-career-202663

Up the Reds and go get 'em, Jordan!

When Jordan Neal packed her hopes, belongings and two dogs into her pickup truck and left Townsville last December, there were no guarantees.

She was on the road to Brisbane to do her best to force whatever chances she could in the Queensland Reds womenโ€™s squad.

Just making the squad was the first step. After a tough pre-season of toil and learning, two strong trial games followed as auditions.

Come Sunday afternoon, Neal will earn her first cap as a Reds prop against the ACT Brumbies at Ballymore Stadium in Swyftx Super Rugby Womenโ€™s.

โ€œI left Townsville because I wanted to have a genuine crack at getting ahead in rugby and get out of my comfort zone,โ€ Neal said.

โ€œIโ€™m so grateful for the help getting a posting in Brisbane.โ€

โ˜•๏ธโค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’› Coffee with our Committee โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›โ˜•๏ธ

Sunday calls for a strong brew! Michael Horto Horton is our longest-standing clubman on the committee. He's seen the club evolve from cotton jerseys to modern kit, and he remains the ultimate quiet achiever. On the field, he does the hard yards; off it, heโ€™s been key in getting the senior cohort actively involved and volunteering.

For Horto, signing up at NW was "one of the best things Iโ€™ve ever done for my life."

โ˜•๏ธโค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’› Coffee with our Committee โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›โ˜•๏ธ

Sunday morning brings us our Director of Menโ€™s Rugby Michael Horton who is celebrating his amazing try last night with an Irish Coffee ๐Ÿ˜‰

Michael is our longest standing Clubman on the committee with an incredible eighteen years of service. He is also our quiet achiever - on the field he is consistently where he needs to be doing what he needs to do and off the field the difference heโ€™s made bringing the senior cohort back into being involved in the whole club, having their say and volunteering has been second to none. Michael is determined to make rugby about rugby again and is willing to make the tough decisions, put in the hard work and stand by his word to make NWRC the Club heโ€™s given so much to over the years. Michael is highly respected by his team mates, his opposition and his fellow committee so when he speaks, everyone stops to listen. That may be a little bit because we never know what heโ€™ll say next but itโ€™s mainly because what he does say is always worth listening to. Simply said, Michaelโ€™s loyalty, passion, determination and love of NWRC is the backbone of our Club.

Thank you Michael for showing us what it means to be an โ€˜Old Boyโ€™ and for leading us back to rugby, with you in this role weโ€™ll always have a Club to be proud of.

โ˜•๏ธโค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’› Coffee with the Committee ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™โค๏ธโ˜•๏ธ

Next up for a brew is a man who needs absolutely no introduction: our Vice Chairman Senior, Brock Thompson.

If youโ€™ve spent five minutes down at the grounds, you know Brock. He is one of the most recognisable characters in the North Ward Rugby Club.

Brock lives and breathes NWRC. Over the last 15 years, he has stepped up for this club in every capacity:
๐Ÿ‰As a Player donning the colours on the field.

๐Ÿ“‹As a Coach steering both our junior and senior squads (even backing up to coach both simultaneously).

โœ๏ธAs an Administrator in his current role where he "deputises and chairs things" to keep the club moving forward.

As Brock puts it, the club is "everythingโ€”without it, there's no me." But truth be told, North Ward wouldn't be the same without him, either.

Thank you, Brocky, for 15 years of unmatched loyalty, hard work, and endless laughs.

โ˜•๏ธโค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’› Coffee with our Committee โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›โ˜•๏ธ

Next in line for coffee is our Vice Chairman Brock Thompson who has ordered a flat white with an extra shot.

Brock is one of the most recognisable characters in our Club, especially on grand final day because youโ€™ll see him with the loudest hair and wearing the most red, blue & yellow in the whole venue. Thereโ€™s no one more passionate about NWRC, no one who will boast about its greatness, sing its praises or sell its inclusion better than Brock. He has donned our colours as a player, a very proud Coach of both junior & senior teams (simultaneously at one point) and a committee member and heโ€™s often the last to leave our home games making sure clean up is shared by many to get everyone home as early and safely as possible. Brock has the biggest of hearts and will literally give the shirt off his back to help someone, he builds confidences, works hard to better himself for the love of his Club and he always brings the smiles and laughter.

Thank you Brock for fifteen years of the most loyal service to NWRC, itโ€™s the people like you that make our Club great.

โ˜•๏ธโค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’› Coffee with our Committee โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›โ˜•๏ธ

Life member, player, coach, referee, and the ultimate voice of reason. Chris Caleo truly bleeds red, blue, and yellow! We are incredibly lucky to have a Club President who advocates so fiercely for our club and works tirelessly behind the scenes.

Thanks for everything you do, El Pres!

โ˜•๏ธโค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’› Coffee with our Committee โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›โ˜•๏ธ

Thereโ€™s a lot going on around the Club so letโ€™s take a minute to have a coffee with our committeeโ€ฆ The first in line (so he can shout us all ๐Ÿคซ) is our Club President, Chris Caleo who is ordering a flat white.

Chris has been with the Club since 2010 and bleeds the red, blue & yellow through and through. He is a a life member, player, a coach (even if somewhat reluctantly these days), a committee member and will even throw his referee hat on if it means our U13s can get a home game. He grills a mean snag, heโ€™s not afraid to go to battle to keep the Club safe and he works harder, advocates fiercer and calms more storms than heโ€™ll ever accept credit for. His womenโ€™s team call him the King and we canโ€™t disagree ๐Ÿ‘‘ but we also know heโ€™s a great big teddy bear that shed a tear answering the below questions.

Thank you Chris for your calm voice, your hard work and your big heart, NWRC couldnโ€™t be what it is without you.
