The Volunteer Community Recovery Coordination Group (VCRCG) is a collection of Townsville and Area Volunteer Community Organisations and like minded bodies that have come together for the benefit of the community to coordinate better recovery assistance, explore and record what Volunteer Community resources are available and to provide a united platform for Volunteer Community Organisations to exp
and their Disaster Community Assistance through mutual coordination and co-operation. A result of the Volunteer Community Recovery Coordination Group - Townsville (VCRCG) meeting held on the 23rd June 2011, was an agreement to collect and collate relevant "non privacy-invading" resource information for each Volunteer Community Organisation and Community Businesses willing to assist in a disaster. The reasoning behind this endeavour is to capture the capability and resources of as many Volunteer Community Organisations and willing Community Businesses as possible, thus enabling better utilisation, planning and community assistance delivery in the event of a disaster recovery event. Being part of the VCRCG is open to all Volunteer Community Organisations and interested businesses. Member organisations operate under their own management structure and within their own operational requirements. Some additional and associated training may be offered to assist personnel better operate safely within a disaster recovery environment. The more Volunteering Community Organisations associated with the VCRCG the greater the organised assistance that can be offered to the people of our community in the event of a disaster recovery need. During any disaster community recovery, it is the Volunteer Community Organisations that make the difference, be they Service Clubs, Church Groups, Sporting Clubs, Schools or Community Minded Businesses. We are our community and by working better together we can be prepared to assist the whole community with disaster recovery when needed. The VCRCG is an operational member of the Townsville Local Disaster Management Group and to date has 70 Community Volunteer Organisations and Business Members. The members of the VCRCG look forwarded to meeting you and listening to your input.
