Our banners are up and ready to go to work today to raise awareness of Zonta and our projects.
They will be attending Grammar School today and Northern Beaches tomorrow where the students will be folding plastics and creating kits. .

(I am sure the students of Grammar School will recognise one of their favourites in the birthing kit banner)

We take supporting women seriously. Ourselves at the High Tea? Not quite so much.

Our annual High Tea is our major fundraiser and helps us support the Women’s Centre Townsville and the Women’s Shelter but while the purpose behind it is serious, the afternoon itself is always a tonne of fun.

Every year has a theme. We’ve had Christmas in July, Spring Carnival and the Swinging Sixties, and our guests never disappoint when it comes to getting into the spirit of things.

There are prizes for the best hat, best costume and most unique cup and saucer, with many of those prizes generously donated by local businesses and organisations. Their support helps us add all those extra touches that make the afternoon what it is.

And there is a lot happening behind the scenes too.

Our volunteers put in hours of work preparing everything from handmade decorations to an incredible spread of food, making sure the room, the tables and the afternoon itself all come together.

This year, for our Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, we’re also collaborating with Northern Beaches State High School, with hospitality students providing table service throughout the afternoon.

Add in cent sales, raffles, lucky seat draws and plenty of surprises, and there will be lots happening between cups of tea.

And apparently, there is something a little special happening over at the photo booth this year…

But I’m not allowed to tell you what it is yet.

So grab your besties, find your best Mad Hatter-inspired outfit, jump online and grab your tickets.

Come along, have a laugh, enjoy a memorable afternoon and, most importantly, help us continue supporting women in our local community.

Sometimes a fundraising event can look like it is simply about the event.

For us, the Mad Hatters High Tea is about what happens afterwards.

The funds raised help the Zonta Club of Townsville provide support to the Women's Shelter and Women's Centre during the year.

That is why this event matters so much to our club.

Every ticket sold, every table filled and every person who helps us spread the word contributes to our ability to keep supporting women locally.

So yes, come for the High Tea.

But know that by being there, you are also helping us do something much bigger.
