Black-throated Finch

Black-throated Finch Everything about the Black-throated Finch. However, since the late 1970s, the bird has disappeared 50 to 80% from its former range.

The Black-throated Finch is a seed eating bird that was once found between the Atherton Tablelands and north-east New South Wales and west to Alpha (central Queensland). The southern sub-species has now been listed as ENDANGERED under Federal, New South Wales and Queensland legislation. The Black-throated Finch Recovery Team (BTFRT) was formed in 2002. The team consists of volunteer community and

government agency representatives and aims to foster the conservation and recovery of the Black-throated Finch. Please join us here to find out more about the Black-throated Finch and to get an insight into the recovery team to see what we do for the conservation of the bird.
