Behind the Doco 🎬
The Road to Patagonia was made over around 10 years, but incredibly, it incorporates footage spanning 16 years.
During the expedition, Matty says there was essentially no film crew. For 2½ years, everything they needed was carried by motorcycle or horse as they travelled.
Then in Mexico Matty’s gear was stolen, along with a significant amount of footage, including all of his drone footage.
Eventually, he faced another enormous task: figuring out how to turn 16 years of material into one 90-minute documentary.
Knowing what went on behind the camera makes The Road to Patagonia an adventure in more ways than one.
