Sharehouse’s Dads & Lads program is all about bringing young men together, getting out into the community and giving them the chance to connect with others.

From golfing and group workouts to learning new skills, cooking and having a good yarn, the group is about getting out of the house, trying something different and having a bit of fun along the way.

Social isolation can be tough, and sometimes it’s hard to know where to start when it comes to meeting people and building connections. Having something to get involved in, people to spend time with and a place where you feel welcome can make a real difference.

Through Dads & Lads, we want to give young people the opportunity to build confidence, develop their independence, support their mental health and feel more connected to the community around them.

The program is for young people currently receiving support from Sharehouse Youth Programs. Fortnightly meet-ups, get in touch to find out more!

You can also support our work through a monetary donation via GiveNow. You’ll find the link through our Linktree.

Yesterday, we joined Rotary Club of Townsville Saints for this year’s Lift the Lid Walk for Mental Health at Riverway!

Lift the Lid is all about getting people together to talk openly about mental health, breaking down the stigma that can stop people from reaching out for support and raising funds for vital mental health research through Australian Rotary Health.

We’re also excited to share that Sharehouse Youth Programs will be a beneficiary of their upcoming Derby Day, with the ladies supporting our Her Circle initiative. Her Circle is a mentoring and support group that empowers young women aged 16–25 through connection, life skills and positive relationships.

We’re grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up for important causes and support the work happening right here in Townsville.

We’re so grateful to The Good Box for their ongoing support of young people at Sharehouse! 💙

The Good Box regularly donates their amazing boxes, which are kept at our front reception for young people to take as they need them. The boxes contain practical essentials such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, no perishable food items, tissues, hand sanitiser and more, as well as some goodies and branded items, including the caps pictured.

While these items may seem small, for a young person experiencing crisis, having access to everyday essentials and a few extra goodies can make a huge difference. Since building our relationship with The Good Box, Sharehouse has distributed hundreds of boxes to young people in need.

We’re incredibly grateful to The Good Box for helping young people feel supported, cared for and connected during challenging times. 🫶
