At Sailability Townsville, we spend a lot of time talking about freedom on the water, but sometimes the biggest difference is made on shore. A huge thank you to Anaconda Townsville and Hope for generously donating our new gazebo. Whether it's shielding us from a surprise downpour, providing shade on a classic North Queensland day, or creating a comfortable place for our sailors, families and volunteers to gather, this gazebo is already making a real difference. Yesterday's rain was the perfect reminder of just how valuable it is. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe, comfortable and ready to sail.

Did we get wet today at Sailability Townsville?
Yep. We got soggy! 🌧️
One minute it was sprinkling ever so lightly and we were saying, "Ah, we'll be right." The next minute... well... let's just say the rain had other ideas!
Not to be deterred, we embraced the conditions and headed sailing anyway. We're a hardy bunch at Sailability Townsville. In fact, I may have accidentally started a new fashion trend when I modelled a stylish garbage bag poncho. Look, if it's good enough for a Brooke Candy concert, it's good enough for Sailability Townsville!
Thankfully there were plenty of hot drinks to keep us warm, and Rebecca kindly brought along chicken sandwiches (... which Skipper may or may not have sampled🤫...) and juice. We had fuel for our bodies, laughter in our hearts, and wind in our sails. What more could anyone ask for?
We also celebrated Kris's 27th birthday with blueberry muffins... his favourite! 🎊🧁 Happy Birthday, Kris🧁🎊
Despite the weather, all of our participants came down to see us, making it another truly magical day at Sailability Townsville.
A huge thank you to Townsville Marine. Our safety boat performed beautifully on the water today. We also officially christened our brand new gazebo, thank you, Anaconda Townsville!
Watch out for a video tomorrow morning🎉
Thank you to everyone who helped make today one for the memory books💙

Today, Luke took to the helm and solo sailed for the very first time. What an incredible achievement! Learning to skipper a boat independently takes confidence, determination, and skill, and we couldn't be prouder of him. A huge thank you to David for the time, patience, and mentoring that helped Luke reach this milestone.
We were also delighted to welcome Oda and her friends from JCU. Thank you to Lorena, Cassie, and Satchie, who are all studying Marine Science and volunteered with Sailability Townsville today. We appreciate that you're balancing study, work, and busy lives, yet still choose to give your time to support our community.
We simply couldn't operate without our amazing volunteers. Every helping hand, every smile, and every act of kindness helps make our program possible. Thank you to, Carolyn M Vincent from The Ubuntu Foundation for your ongoing support of Sailability Townsville. The Sailability program is so much more than a day out on the water. It builds confidence, courage, independence, friendships, and a sense of belonging. It creates opportunities for people to learn new skills, challenge themselves, discover hidden strengths, and achieve goals they may never have thought possible.
At Sailability Townsville, inclusion isn't just a word, it's something we live every week. People living with disability are given the opportunity to shine, to contribute, to belong, and to be valued members of our community. We all have unique gifts, and Sailability encourages, supports, and empowers people to grow, participate, and reach their potential. I'd also like to take a moment to thank Andrew, our President, and Owen, our Vice President, who are always there supporting our volunteers, participants, families, and the wider Sailability community. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.
Today's photos and videos were a true team effort from Kris Harber, our apprentice Social Media Officer, Kerri Ritchie (our resident viral sensation!) from Townsville All Abilities League Tag Inc., and the rest of the Sailability in Townsville team.
🎉Go Team!🎉
