From factory floors to treetops 🐨🌿
This curious koala caused quite the surprise when she wandered into a factory in Salisbury - definitely not where you’d expect to find a koala!

Thankfully, the workers knew something wasn’t right and quickly called for help. Our RSPCA Rescue Team collected Ellie and brought her in to be checked over by our Wildlife Vet Team.

With a clean bill of health, there was only one thing left to do – get Ellie back where she belonged ❤️

Our Rescue Team found Ellie a suitable spot in nearby bushland to where she was found, and set about choosing the perfect tree. Safe to say Ellie approved! She quickly climbed her way to the top and settled in like she had never left!

With koala breeding season underway, more koalas are on the move and can sometimes turn up in unexpected places.

If you live in koala habitat, please help keep them safe by containing pets, keeping dogs on leash when walking through bushland and making your backyard koala-friendly.

And if you spot a koala somewhere unusual or potentially unsafe, please call the RSPCA Emergency Hotline on 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625), or your closest wildlife carer for help 🐨❤️

250 days and counting for Kaylee 💔
How has this clever, toy-loving girl been waiting this long for her forever home?! 🥹

Meet Kaylee! She's smart, fun and fiercely devoted to her favourite people. In fact, we're pretty sure she thinks she's a human herself! 😂

She’s even a regular superstar at our Happy Paws Happy Hearts training sessions, where she loves showing off her skills and proving that learning can be heaps of fun.

When she's not busy being a very good girl, Kaylee loves a game of tug, chasing a ball or entertaining herself with her favourite toys. And when playtime is over? She's more than happy to put her paws up, curl up nearby and enjoy a tasty Kong.

On Kaylee's wish list is a family who'll include her in their everyday adventures. She'd also prefer to be your one and only furry friend and she's got plenty of love, loyalty and personality to go round! 🐶❤️

She's spent 250 days waiting for someone to choose her. Could you be the one to show Kaylee what forever feels like? Check out her profile online and apply to adopt today 👉 rspcaqld.org.au/find-a-pet/details/a2jMp00000DSfRvIAL/a1358515

Meet Bowie 👋
Sweet, sensitive Bowie is ready to find her family to share life's adventures with! 🐶

Gorgeous girl Bowie may take a little time to get to know new people and places, but once she feels comfortable, she's ready to show you what a wonderful companion she can be. All Bowie needs is someone willing to take things at her pace, celebrate her little wins and help her discover just how wonderful life can be

This girl is happiest when she has space to stretch those legs! 🏃‍♀️💨 A large, secure yard or acreage would be ideal, giving Bowie plenty of room to run, play and explore while enjoying the comfort of her own home.

She's also looking for a family with plenty of time to spend with her, keeping her busy with physical exercise, fun enrichment and positive training.

And when it comes to meeting new people, Bowie loves a gentle introduction - crouch down, roll a few tasty treats her way and let her decide when she's ready to come over and say hello! 🦴🥰

Bowie would love to be your one and only furry friend 🐶❤️

With patience, encouragement and plenty of positive experiences, Bowie has so much potential to flourish. If you're looking for a sweet girl to join you on life's adventures and you're happy to let her take things one paw at a time, Bowie could be the pup for you! A painful reminder to always take your fishing gear with you 🎣💔
This Grey-headed Flying Fox found himself in serious trouble when a three-pronged fishing hook became embedded through his lip and nose.

Thankfully, the team at Bats QLD came to his rescue and safely transported him to our RSPCA Wildlife Hospital, where our Wildlife Vet team got to work.

Under anaesthetic, our Vet team carefully cut the hook into sections before gently removing each piece.

Despite how nasty his injuries looked, this little guy has healed well and is now continuing his rehabilitation ❤️🦇

But not every animal caught in fishing gear is so lucky.

Discarded hooks and fishing line can remain a serious threat long after a day of fishing is over, catching, tangling and seriously injuring unsuspecting wildlife.

So next time you cast a line, please take all hooks, line and fishing gear with you. And if you spot discarded fishing gear while you’re out and about, and it’s safe to collect, please pick it up and bin it.

A few seconds cleaning up can prevent a painful injury for wildlife ❤️

And remember, if you ever find a bat in trouble, never attempt to handle it yourself. Keep your distance and call the RSPCA on 1300 ANIMAL, Bats Qld, Bat Conservation and Rescue Qld, or your nearest wildlife carer.

Meet Emmy 👋
Got something to say? Emmy has probably already said it! 😂

This lovely lady is quite the little chatterbox and is always happy to share her thoughts with anyone who will listen 🐱

Since arriving at the shelter, Emmy has been settling in beautifully and showing more of her personality every day.

She can be a little reserved if things happen too quickly, but give her a little time and a gentle approach, and you'll soon discover the sweet and affectionate girl underneath.

Once Emmy decides you're one of her people, she's more than happy to seek out attention, enjoy some quality time together and let her affectionate side shine.

And when it comes to her forever home, Emmy has just one request: all the attention, please! 😺❤️

She'd love to be the only feline princess 👑 in the household, where she can rule her kingdom with plenty of charm, conversation and cuddles.

If you're looking for a gorgeous girl with plenty to say and even more love to give, Emmy could be your perfect match! Check out her profile online and apply to adopt today 👉 rspcaqld.org.au/find-a-pet/details/a2jMp00000DitFpIAJ/a1484823

Meet Nala 👋
Don’t let Nala’s shy side fool you, there’s a cheeky little character waiting to come out!

Give this sweet girl a little time, patience and love, and watch her transform from quiet observer to affectionate sweetheart! 🥰

Nala is a bit of a speed queen and loves to show her joy with full-speed zoomies! And if you hit the right spot with her favourite bum scratches, you'll be rewarded with the cutest full-body wiggles 😂

She's also a bit of a copycat! 👀🐶 Nala gains confidence by watching the dogs around her, so a social, confident canine companion could be a wonderful addition to her forever home and help show her that the world isn't such a scary place.

Nala is looking for a patient family who will let her settle in at her own pace and celebrate all the little milestones along the way. And trust us, when those zoomies and wiggles start coming out, you'll know you've earned a very special place in her heart 🥹❤️

🚨 If you had to evacuate in 10 minutes, would your pets be ready?
Disasters don't wait for you to find the cat's carrier or hunt down the dog's lead! 🐾

With bushfire and storm season upon us, now's the time to make sure your pet (and farmyard friends) are part of your emergency plan. When you need to leave in a hurry, a bit of prep now makes a big difference.

Here's how to get pet prepared 👇

🆔 Check their ID: Make sure your pets are microchipped, their details are up to date and they're wearing a collar with ID.

🦴 Pack an emergency kit: Include food, water, medication, bedding and favourite toys.

🏡 Plan a safe space: Know where your animals can shelter safely and bring pets indoors where possible. Never leave them tethered outside.

🙋‍♀️ Chat with your neighbours: Have someone who can check on your animals if you can't get home.

🏢 Know where you'll go: Research pet-friendly evacuation options ahead of time, as not all evacuation centres roll out the red carpet for furry friends.

🐨 Don't forget wildlife: If you find injured wildlife, call the RSPCA Hotline on 1300 ANIMAL (264 625).

🚨 Ticks are a hazard all year round! 🚨
Checking your pets daily for ticks can be a life saver. Take the time to check those ‘hidden’ places like under the collar, between toes and inside their ears 🐱🐶

If you find a tick on your pet, or they start to show symptoms of tick paralysis ACT FAST - Take them to your local vet immediately.

⚠️ If you see any of the following symptoms in your pet, don't delay vet treatment ⚠️
🐾 Vomiting or gagging
🐾 Difficulty breathing
🐾 Dry cough or change in bark or meow
🐾 Unsteady, staggering walk
🐾 Disinterest in food
🐾 Hind leg paralysis

Some cats and dogs do not show the typical hind limb paralysis at first. Initially they may only exhibit a gurgling, choking cough, however their condition will quickly deteriorate.

✅ BE SMART - Protect your pet with tick prevention.

RSPCA QLD recommend and use the Bravecto Australia range. We stock the spot-on and chews range at RSPCA World for Pets 👉 rspcaworldforpets.com.au. Talk to your vet for the best option for your pet.

Meet Bundy and Evie 👋
These two best friends are on a very important mission to find a forever home where they can continue doing everything together! 🐶❤️

Evie is a sweet, sensitive girl who just needs a little time to get to know new people and her surroundings. Luckily, she has the perfect sidekick by her side! Her brother Bundy gives her an extra boost of confidence and is always there to show her that everything is going to be okay.

Bundy is a gentle boy who also likes to take his time getting to know new people. Once he feels comfortable, his loveable personality starts to shine, and having Evie by his side makes everything that little bit easier.

Their dream home? One where life moves at a gentler pace. A calm, quiet household with a predictable routine will help them feel safe, settled and confident as they find their feet. They’d love to be part of everyday family life indoors, with a cosy space of their own to retreat to whenever they feel like some quiet time.
