30–40 years ago, local primary school students rolled up their sleeves and planted trees along Gowrie Creek — many of which are still standing strong today 🌳💚

In this video, Rob shares the story behind these plantings and the lasting impact community action can have on our environment. It’s a powerful reminder that small actions today can shape Toowoomba for generations to come. 🌱

Yes, another reminder from Ergon that power prices are about to come down thanks to renewables, batteries and coal power stations breaking down less often (because the state government spent lots of money on them so we still paid for this factor).

Find out more here:

Surging levels of renewable energy and better reliability from coal-fired generators are set to give consumers a break, with benchmark power prices to fall up to 10 per cent for consumers and more for small businesses.

🚨 Land clearing is happening across the Toowoomba region — before development even begins.

And it’s happening too often.

Right now, Toowoomba is the only local government area in South East Queensland without proper tree protection.

That needs to change.

We’re calling for a Temporary Local Planning Instrument to be introduced now — to protect trees while a long-term planning scheme is finalised.

We can’t afford to wait another two years while more of our urban canopy is lost.

It’s time to act.

🌱 Did you know renewable energy can work with agriculture, not against it?

From cropping to sheep and cattle grazing, farming and solar can coexist on the same land. In fact, when done right, these systems can even improve productivity.

☀️ The added shade from solar panels helps reduce evaporation, allowing crops and grass to grow more efficiently.

It’s about smarter planning - making sure we protect prime agricultural land and biodiversity, while still moving towards a clean and affordable energy future.

Let’s get renewables done right.

A reminder that the Gowrie Clean up Event is this Saturday!

With our previous clean up, we collected 300kg of rubbish. Together, we can make a real impact, protect our environment, and show what community spirit looks like in action. Every small effort counts - see you there! 🌱

Equipment will be provided to assist with the clean up 🧤
