It is with a very heavy heart that we share this news.
After meeting and carefully reviewing the weather forecasts and risk advice, the International Street Fiesta Committee has made the unanimous decision to cancel the 2025โ2026 International Street Fiesta and the Luminous Lantern Parade.
This has been an incredibly difficult decision. We know how much this event means to our community. For many, the Fiesta is more than a festival โ it is a celebration of culture, belonging, connection, and shared joy. It represents months of preparation from performers, stallholders, volunteers, sponsors, and community groups who pour their time, creativity, and love into bringing it to life.
However, the forecasted weather conditions present serious safety concerns. Large-scale events like ours require significant logistical set-up โ staging, lighting structures, marquees, electrical infrastructure, equipment transport, and coordinated bump-in and bump-out across the park. High winds, heavy rain, and unstable ground conditions create real risks not only during the event itself, but also during the critical set-up and pack-down periods for contractors, volunteers, and stallholders.
As organisers, our responsibility is to prioritise the wellbeing of everyone involved. After weighing every possible option, we could not justify proceeding with risks that could impact peopleโs safety, damage infrastructure, or place additional strain on those working behind the scenes to bring the event together.
We know this will be deeply disappointing. It is disappointing for us too. The committee, volunteers, and partners have worked tirelessly behind the scenes, and we share in the sadness felt across our multicultural community.
To our stallholders, performers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters โ thank you. Your commitment, patience, and understanding mean more than we can say. We recognise the impact this cancellation has, particularly on those who have invested time, preparation, and resources, and we truly appreciate your support during this difficult moment.
The spirit of the International Street Fiesta is about unity and resilience. While this chapter closes sooner than we hoped, our commitment to creating vibrant, inclusive cultural celebrations remains strong. We will regroup, reflect, and look ahead to future opportunities to gather again as one community.
Thank you for standing with us.
One World. One Love. ๐๐
