The Older Mens Network inc After the novelty of retirement wears off and the honeymoon is over, many can be left asking "what's next?".

Established in 2001, the Older Mens Network (TOMNET) is a not for profit community organisation offering a range of support services for retired men in regional, rural, and remote locations in Queensland. TOMNET is a not for profit organisation which provides Peer Support for men who have retired, or are thinking about retiring, to assist them through the hidden hardships of this new phase of their life. Through rediscovering fulfilling lives, TOMNET men regain purpose, and the ability to connect, and contribute to the community. At TOMNET we create networks of older men (50+) who genuinely care about the welfare of each other and find a sense of belonging. We provide opportunities for older men to connect with each other and to also engage with the community through volunteer activities such as:

• Home visiting program for isolated and vulnerable older men
• Residential Aged Care Visiting teams
• Mentoring for disadvantaged youth
• Telephone support service for isolated members
• Barbecue service

If you would like to set up a TOMNET group in your community, we can help! We have a step-by-step guide and can support you with advice. TOMNET is based on Mateship, Well-being, and support. MATESHIP

Our aim is to reach out to older men (over 50's) who are lonely, isolated and in need of friendship. We provide support to improve men's physical, mental, emotional and social well-being and provide them with a sense of belonging. WELL-BEING

The Older Mens Network provides older men with the opportunity to benefit from individual peer support, to enhance social networks and gain a sense of belonging in the community. SUPPORT

TOMNET values older men, regardless of their circumstances and provides meaningful peer support networks that are responsive to and reflective of individual needs whilst positively promoting the role of men supporting men in the community. Every day in Australia, one man over the age of 65 commits su***de (Griffith University, Australian Institute for Su***de Research Prevention, 2012). TOMNET has been at the forefront of stemming these rates in regional communities and rural areas. OUR COMMUNITY EVENT IS THIS WEEKEND!

Come along to Queens Park this Sunday, 3:30pm–5:30pm for a community walk and sausage sizzle!

Our Toowoomba Together team is taking part in the Lift the Load challenge, carrying 10kg for 50km throughout October to help bring healthy relationship and mental health conversations to young men in our schools.

Most importantly, the money raised stays local. All funds raised by our team go directly to Top Blokes Foundation, supporting their work with young men in our local community.

Come along, connect with the community and support a cause that is making a difference right here in Toowoomba.

A big thank you to our wonderful TOMNET members who fired up the BBQ and kept everyone well fed, and to the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety for supporting this fantastic community event. 👏🌭
