Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month has helped shine a light, but the work doesn’t stop here.

Let’s keep the momentum going. Rally your team, workplace or community and pass on your old phones to DV Safe Phone. You can drop your device at any People First Bank or Heritage branch, making it easy to turn unwanted e-waste into a valuable resource for those who need it most.

Through the Weis Community Fund, the People First Bank Foundation is proud to support leadership pathways helping strengthen regional communities across the Darling Downs.

Recently, scholarship recipients Amanda Burchmann and Rowena Beveridge graduated from the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation’s Australian Agribusiness Leadership Program building skills in leadership, advocacy, collaboration and regional engagement.

Amanda shared the experience strengthened her confidence to better support producers and rural communities across Southern Queensland through stronger collaboration, education and leadership.

Rowena described the program as a powerful reminder that leadership isn’t about having all the answers, but about listening, empathy and having the courage to speak up when it matters.

Importantly, this investment is creating something bigger than individual growth. It’s building a connected network of regional leaders right here in the Darling Downs with four local graduates now supported through the Weis Community Fund.

It’s incredibly inspiring to see the impact the Foyer Independence Fund is having in the lives of young people living in accredited Foyers.

These grants are helping young people take important steps towards independence, whether that’s through education, employment, housing or building confidence for the future.

We’re proud to support this initiative through a three-year, $150,000 commitment. But the demand for support continues to grow.

In this latest round alone, around 50 young people missed out on funding. Behind every application is a young person working towards a safer, more stable future. One of our goals is to help grow the Foyer Independence Fund so more young people can access these opportunities and the support that comes with them.

🎉 44 young people have each just received a grant of up to $1000 under the latest round of the Foyer Independence Fund, thanks to People First Bank.

These grants help young people living in Accredited Foyers move a step closer to independence, funding things like:
📚 Education: laptops, tuition fees, school supplies
👔 Work: work clothing, tools and certificaiton fees
💪 Health: cooking classes, gym memberships
💸 Financial capability: budgeting workshops or online courses to get confident with money
🤝 Connection: conferences, networking events, community projects
🏠 Housing: furniture and appliances for their own homes
🚗 Independence: driving lessons, public speaking, leadership courses

Over 100 young people applied this time. With over 650 young people now living in Youth Foyers, applications will continue to rise.

Our Directors Bill Armagnacq, Christine Maher and Michael Tons were honoured to attend the recent Women & Change celebration at Queensland Parliament House, recognising a remarkable achievement of more than $1 million in donations to support vulnerable Queenslanders.

The evening highlighted the incredible impact that collective philanthropy can have when people unite behind a shared purpose. Over the past 12 years, Women & Change has helped fund initiatives tackling some of Queensland’s most pressing challenges - including support for women and families experiencing hardship, regional health services, and programs creating brighter futures for young people.

Hearing the stories of impact across communities throughout Queensland was both inspiring and a powerful reminder of the importance of collaboration, generosity, and long-term community investment.

The People First Bank Foundation is proud to support Women & Change in their mission – Changing Queenslanders lives by empowering women to give with impact.

Four children are ready to start therapy right now — they’re simply waiting for a place to open.

No child should have to wait months for support when they are struggling.

Our charity partner KidsXpress is working to provide vital therapy and trauma support for children who need it most, but demand for services is growing faster than available therapist hours.

For the next 5 days, every donation will be matched dollar for dollar thanks to Jobs, helping more children access support sooner.

If you’re able to contribute, now is the perfect time to double your impact and help change a young life.

Together, we can help ensure children receive the care and support they deserve.

Four children are ready to start therapy. They’re just waiting for a place to open.

Right now, we don’t have enough therapist hours to see them.

This week, your donation will be matched dollar for dollar thanks to Ethical Jobs.

Help us bring these children into therapy sooner.

When a child is struggling, waiting months for support can feel like forever.

Today is Youth Homelessness Matters Day. Right now, too many young people in Australia are facing homelessness and there simply aren’t enough resources to support them. Services are overwhelmed, and some are being turned away because there’s no space available.

It’s a big issue, and it can feel hard to know where to start. But small actions do make a difference. Here are 3 simple ways you can help.

At its heart, Youth Homelessness Matters Day is about fairness. Every young person deserves a safe place to sleep, and the opportunity to build a future.

Together, by raising awareness, supporting organisations, and speaking up we can help make that a reality.

Make a donation to The Foyer Foundation today: https://foyer.raiselysite.com/

Most people picture homelessness as sleeping rough. But only 6% of the 40,000 young people facing homelessness are rough sleepers - the rest are couch-surfing, in overcrowded accommodation, or bouncing between unsafe spots, making their struggle largely unseen.

The good news? Proven solutions exist.

Youth Foyers give 16-24 year-olds a stable home for up to two years, paired with education, employment and life skills support - all under one roof. They create pathways out of homelessness and free up crisis services for those who need them most.

With investment in solutions like Youth Foyers long-term independence is within reach for every young person.
