CatholicCare Social Services is seeking a compassionate and experienced Practitioner to support individuals, couples, children and families through some of life’s most significant transitions.

Working across our Family and Community and Family and Relationship Services programs, you’ll provide counselling, education and group-based support that helps families navigate relationship pressures, separation and parenting arrangements.

We’re looking for someone who brings a child-inclusive, strengths-based and trauma-informed approach along with a genuine commitment to helping people move forward.

Children are more likely to feel safe, secure and supported when the families around them are strengthened and parents can access help when they need it.

Turning conversation into action can mean listening carefully, checking in, taking concerns seriously, supporting a parent without judgement or helping a family connect with the right services.

At CatholicCare, we remain committed to working alongside parents and families through times of challenge and change, helping to strengthen relationships, reduce conflict and keep children’s wellbeing at the heart of every decision.

This week marks 40 years of Queensland Child Protection Week. đź’›

From 6–12 September, communities across Queensland come together to raise awareness and promote the safety, wellbeing and rights of children and young people.

Creating safety is not only about responding when harm occurs. It is also about strengthening families, supporting parents through challenging times and making sure help is available early.

At CatholicCare, we work alongside parents and families to navigate change, reduce conflict, strengthen relationships and make decisions that keep children’s needs and wellbeing at the centre.

This year’s national theme, Every Conversation Matters: Shifting Conversation to Action, reminds us that awareness is important, however it is what we do next that can make a lasting difference.

Today, we acknowledge National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day.

This year's SNAICC-National Voice for our Children theme, "Living Our Truth," celebrates the importance of truth-telling, sharing knowledge across generations, and honouring the voices, stories and strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

At CatholicCare, we recognise that every child deserves to grow up feeling safe, valued, connected and proud of who they are. We are privileged to walk alongside children, young people, families and communities, working together to create culturally safe spaces where identity is celebrated, culture is respected, and every child's story matters.

Today, on 3rd August, we stand with our Yazidi community as they remember a day marked by profound loss, grief and unimaginable suffering.

Twelve years ago, thousands of Yazidi people were subjected to genocide, forcing families from their homes, separating loved ones, and forever changing countless lives. For many survivors and their families, the pain of that day has never truly ended.

As we remember, we also honour the resilience of the Yazidi community and acknowledge that there is still much to be done to support survivors, seek justice, and ensure these atrocities are never forgotten.

If your work involves advising, representing or supporting families through separation and supporting co-parenting families, this is a conference worth your time.

The Family Law Pathways Network Toowoomba and South West Qld 2026 Conference will be held in Toowoomba at the Micah Centre on Thursday 21st May, bringing together a highly experienced line-up of speakers to address the realities and complexities of family law practice.
