Apologies for not posting since March but I have been away travelling around our great country for a while! Since March, apart from our regular fortnightly meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of the month 23 students from Centenary Heights High School graduated from the Youth Leadership course we ran at the school. The graduation was a great success and it was wonderful to see the students graduate watched on by their family and friends. Thank you to Ken and all the other club members that made this event happen.

An upcoming event for our club is to host the Michael Mellick Contest on 31 May 25. We have three members competing, and our President has accepted the role of master of ceremonies! This will be a great contest, and it would be great if you were able to come along and support your club members participating in the contest.

On the 26 Jun 25 we will be having our annual Changeover Dinner at Urban Grounds Café, 210 Herries Street Toowoomba commencing 6:30PM. RSVP’s are requested by 5 Jun 25. As usual, this is expected to be an enjoyable evening, thank you to the organisers for this event.

Membership this year has been very strong. We conduct club meetings at 7pm every second and fourth Thursday of the month at the Toowoomba City Library. If your interest in Toastmasters is a recently new interest or if it is just something you have always wondered about, please reach out and we would be glad to explain a little about it. If you would like to come and visit one of our club meetings you would be most welcome.

February was another good month for Compass Toastmasters. We commenced facilitating a Youth Leadership course at one of Toowoomba’s high schools. This course has been well attended by the students, and they have proven themselves to be capable and confident speakers. The 23 students will graduate from this course next week 18 Mar 25.

Compass Toastmasters organised and hosted the 2025 Western Division Conference at the Toowoomba City Library. The conference was well attended, and an enjoyable time was had by all.

We have had a number of new people enquire about the club and this has resulted in four new memberships. Welcome to those new members.

An upcoming event will be the Michael Mellick contest where contestants compete against other Toastmasters.

Well, it has been a terrific start to 2025 after a nice break over the Christmas and New Year period. We have had our first club and business meeting for the year, and it looks to be a great year. Apart from the regular club meetings, upcoming events are club officer training in early February followed by the commencement of a Youth Leadership course for students at one of Toowoomba’s high schools.

Compass Toastmasters will also be hosting the Western Division Conference for 2025, and arrangements are underway for this.
We have a few new people showing interest in joining the club this year and they came to the club meeting in January. It was a good night which we all enjoyed.

If your interest in Toastmasters is a recently new interest or if it is just something you have always wondered about, please reach out and we would be glad to explain a little about it, and if you like to come and visit one of our club meetings you would be most welcome.

September and October were another couple of busy months at Compass Toastmasters. Since our last post we have run six week Youth Leadership courses for students in two Toowoomba schools. These courses provide students with the opportunity to develop their leadership and public speaking skills.

Our club has achieved a number of Distinguished Club Program goals and expect to achieve more by the end of the period. We also continued organising to host the Western Division Conference in early 2025.

Additionally, we held club contests for evaluation, humorous and table topics. Maddi and Ellika and Maddi were successful in winning those contests and will go on to compete in the Area 12 Contest this weekend. Good luck Ellika and Maddi.

If you have any interest in developing your public speaking skills or if you are just interested in finding out what Toastmasters is about, please do not hesitate to reach out and make contact.
