Another Bunnings BBQ is complete! A HUGE thank you to our volunteers today: Phil, Fiona, Sienna, Sierra, Mahala & Kay, as well as our previous volunteers Judy, Zena, Renada, Matt, Isaac & Kaitlyn. Hey legends!

Don’t forget about our Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser today, stop in to Bunnings Toowoomba West for a snag on bread and a drink, it really helps us out!

We are currently at $3242 which is 81% of our minimum fundraising goal, hopefully today will push us over that $4000 minimum and anything over that is a bonus for Cancer Research!

Drove the car out of the shed under its own power for the first time in a while, it reminded me of all the noises that need to be addressed (list is growing again!), gave it a wash and took some photos then parked it back in the shed 🤣

Is it an expensive paint job - No
Does it look like an expensive paint job - Also no
Will it complete another rally - It truly is a Mystery
Will we have a great time finding out - Absolutely!

The Volvo is exhausted now 🤣
Just a couple more items to tick off the list and we might be half prepared for this years Mystery Box Rally!
Don’t forget we have another Bunnings BBQ coming up on Easter Monday, come down and grab a snag!

Few “upgrades” for the car this year!
Bonnet vents to keep under bonnet temperatures lower, an alloy radiator to replace the busted (from the last rally) plastic tank radiator, all new cooling hoses and water pump, extractors (for a left hand drive car) that needed modifying to fit and a better factory camshaft to try and wake the engine up a bit!

Trying to get on top of car preparation early this year, so the car currently looks like this, but we keep finding things we need to or want to address which is creating a lot of side quests! 🤦‍♂️
A list of parts is being compiled and hopefully we can order them soon to ensure we are the most prepared we have ever been this year 🤣

The legends at Dynamic Wheel Co. have donated 2x wheels, adding to a set of 4 we already had, so we have a complete set of 6 matching wheels for the mighty Volvo!
We can’t wait to get the tyres fitted up and see these on the car, should make it look a bit more aggressive and will be much stronger than the alloy wheels we are currently running!

What a sad bit of news, the rally stopped here in 2019 and was one of my highlights from that rally, shame to see it close!

🍺 NOTICE OF CLOSURE: As of 28/11/25, The Hungerford Hotel will not be open until further notice. Nevertheless, accommodation arrangements can still be made by contacting Graham on 0418158878.

The Hungerford ‘Royal Mail Hotel’ was constructed in 1873 of corrugated iron, which was transported over 200 kms from New South Wales on bush tracks. It is the original building still stands and has been in use until this day. The Royal Mail was originally a Cobb & Co Staging Post where weary horses and travellers gained some respite from the road, heat and infrequent floods.

Hungerford once had two hotels, The Royal Mail and the Commercial. According to bush legend, one of the pubs, the Commercial presumably, sat right on the border of QLD and NSW.

We have managed to get some great companies on board for this rally and we cant wait to share the details with you all once all the details are finalised!

Sorry we’ve been a bit quiet on here lately, just been working on things in the background trying to secure donations/sponsors, but rest assured we are still here!
