The Tooraweenah Show Society was formed in 1913 due to the efforts of Mr Thomas Sheldon who canvassed the district for support. The Showgrounds were purchased through a bank loan & guarantees of several local landholders. In the early days the annual event was run as a full traditional Show with sections of bloodstock, trotters, hunters, jumpers, cattle, sheep, poultry & farm produce. The first pa
vilion was of slab and rail structure with a bush roof, mainly enclosed by wire netting. It was later roofed with galvanised iron & when the present pavilion was built it was used for the eating pavilion. During those early Shows the calling was done by a man with a loud voice and a tin megaphone. The last of these Show callers was Mr "Pop" Toll from Gilgandra, The years of WW11 saw the Show reduced to a Sports Carnival Gymkhana. Most of the proceeds were given to the local war effort. In 1964 for the 50th Anniversary the name "Show" appeared once again. The old slab eating pavilion was used as a bonfire after an extension was built on the eastern end of the present pavilion. Grant funding was secured to build Rodeo Yards in the 1970's. Extensive work has been done to update and maintain the grounds. In the 1980's Tooraweenah Golf Club developed and continue to maintain a 9 hole golf course with sand greens. This facility is used annually for the Endurance Ride which became famous when it was chosen to host the 1991 Tom Quilty 100 mile National Championships. The Showground in 2014 is a multi use facility incorporating the Tooraweenah Annual Show, Endurance Riders & Tooraweenah Golf Club.
