This week, we’re celebrating Working with Children Week 2026, held from 22nd to 28th June.
The 2026 theme is Start Safe: Smarter recruitment for child safety.
The Working with Children Check is important, but it is only one part of child-safe recruitment. Clear role design, strong interview processes, referee checks and ongoing oversight all work together to keep children safe.
This Working with Children Week, Girls’ Brigade NSW is recognising smarter, safer recruitment practices that help create safe environments for children.

Today is World Day Against Child Labour. The 2026 theme is “Red Card to Child Labour: Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults.”
This year’s campaign calls for stronger action to address the root causes of child labour and to support children who have been withdrawn from it. This includes promoting quality education, universal social protection, decent work and sustainable livelihoods for adults, stronger laws and enforcement, better data and monitoring systems, and responsible practices in agriculture and supply chains.
How can we, as Girls' Brigaders, advocate for children, especially the girl child, so they freedom, safety and opportunity of simply being children?

Today is World Environment Day.
World Environment Day 2026 focuses on climate change, the urgent signals our planet is sending, and the signals we choose to send in return. UNEP’s global campaign calls on all of us to act and help steer a world already in motion.
This day is an important reminder of why we must care for and protect our environment.
How will you celebrate World Environment Day?
