AuSPICA Seed Potato Certification
AuSPICA is a not for profit autonomous, industry-based, seed potato certification authority which has operated as an incorporated association since 1994. AuSPICA provides seed certification services throughout South Australia, Victoria and Northern New South Wales. AuSPICA accredits all minituber (G0) production throughout Australia. Annually we inspect around 2000ha of seed potatoes.
All fields submitted for seed potato production are soil sampled and laboratory tested for Potato Cyst Nematode (PCN). All fields used for seed certification are known to be tested free of PCN.
Seed potato crops are field inspected twice in accordance with the conditions of the seed Scheme. In addition, it is mandatory that all seed crops which are certified by AuSPICA are leaf tested for Potato Virus Y (PVY). Seed stocks that are certified require a post-harvest tuber inspection.
