Join the Northam Army Camp Heritage Association Inc., next Saturday, at the historic Northam Army Camp for a powerful day of storytelling, reflection, and shared heritage. This unique event brings to life the experiences of displaced persons and migrants who first arrived in Australia carrying the legacies of war, forced labour and displacement.

Through personal narratives, historical insights and discussion. The children of these survivors reclaim and share stories that shaped their families and this significant site.

Set on ground layered with military, POW, migrant, and contemporary histories The event explores themes of memory, belonging, and identity. Presentations from historians, researchers and community voices are complemented by interactive sessions, panel discussions, and a heritage trail, offering multiple ways to engage with the past.

Open to all, the day invites reflection on how these stories continue to shape our communities.

🌺 A heartfelt thank you from Toodyay RSL 🌺

What a wonderful and incredibly meaningful morning it was.

The Toodyay RSL Sub-Branch would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Theatre 180, their talented cast and crew, and everyone who came along to support 21 Hearts and share in this very special memorial.

❤️ Thank you to Theatre 180 for bringing this important story to Toodyay and for your incredible dedication, passion and professionalism. Your performance has helped us remember and honour the women whose stories deserve to be heard.

🌺 Thank you to everyone who attended — your support, respect and participation made the morning truly special.

🇦🇺 Thank you to our Toodyay RSL Sub-Branch members and volunteers for all the work behind the scenes, from preparing the memorial site to welcoming guests and helping make the event run so smoothly.

And finally, thank you to everyone who contributed in any way, whether through flowers, attendance, support, conversations or simply taking a moment to pause and remember.

Today was about remembering, honouring and telling their stories — and together, our community did exactly that.

Lest We Forget. 🌺

📸 A few special moments from this morning.
Thank you to everyone who helped make 21 Hearts such a memorable and moving event. ❤️

🌺 21 HEARTS TODAY IN TOODYAY

🌺Brought to you by Toodyay RSL Sub-Branch & Theatre 180, 21 Hearts – Vivian Bullwinkel & the Nurses of the Vyner Brooke is happening TODAY at Toodyay Memorial Hall.

❤️ A story of courage, friendship and extraordinary women.

🌺We also take this moment to honour Sister Alma Beard, Service Number WFX11175, Toodyay’s own nurse, whose service and connection to our community forms a deeply personal link to this powerful story of Australian Army nurses

🌺 A service for Alma Beard
There will be a short commemorative service for Sister Alma Beard tomorrow at 11am, held at her memorial outside the Toodyay Medical Centre. All are welcome to attend as we pay our respects to her life and service.

A huge thank you to everyone who purchased their tickets early — both sessions are SOLD OUT! 👏🌺

🙌 We would also like to thank Theatre 180 for their special performance for the students of Toodyay yesterday. It was a wonderful opportunity for our local young people to experience this important piece of Australian history.

🌺 A little reminder for today:
The bathroom facilities at the Memorial Hall are small, and performers will also need access for changing. We kindly ask everyone to please be patient, considerate and understanding of one another throughout the day.

🥪 Refreshments available
The Toodyay RSL Sub-Branch will have a selection of light, non-alcoholic refreshments available for purchase.

🍽️ Why not come into town a little early and enjoy a meal at one of our fabulous local eateries before the show? It’s a great way to support our wonderful Toodyay community.

The Toodyay RSL Sub-Branch sincerely appreciates your support of this memorable and moving piece of historical theatre, brought to Toodyay by Theatre 180.

To all ADF service men and women, and members of the Toodyay community,
Have you considered joining the Toodyay RSL Sub-Branch?
As a proud part of the WA RSL, our Sub-Branch plays an important role in supporting both current and former defence personnel, as well as contributing to the wellbeing of our local community. However, as a small group, we are seeking new members to help strengthen our capacity and continue this vital work.
We are also approaching a significant milestone — the realisation of a long-held vision more than 107 years in the making: the establishment of a permanent home for our Sub-Branch. This achievement reflects the dedication and commitment of those who have served before us.
We now invite you to be part of this next chapter. Your membership will not only support our veterans but also help sustain a strong, connected community.
We welcome your involvement and encourage you to join us in making a meaningful difference.
Your support is valued, and your membership matters.
Please contact Sec Max Howard0475 724 233
