Northbound traffic on the Princes highway between Island Point Rd and Jervis Bay Rd is currently impacted due to a single vehicle accident at Mortimer Rd, Falls Creek.
If you are travelling north please consider taking an alternate route and allow extra time for travelling.

Once the accident is cleared up there will still be congestion due to holiday traffic. Take care and be safe.

A lovely day on Tuesday showing the students of Tomerong Public School our Cat 1 and some of the equipment we use! We also provided fire safety education and kid friendly bush fire awareness, followed by a quick turn of the hose - keeping Senior Deputy Matt quite busy💧 🚒

FIRE PERMITS SUSPENDED – Saturday 19th September 2026

The Shoalhaven is forecast to experience HIGH fire danger conditions on Saturday 19th September 2026. As a result of the forecast all fire permits issued by the RFS have been suspended in the Shoalhaven for this time.

These conditions can create a real fire risk across our landscape. It's incumbent upon all of us to be cautious with the use of fire.

ONE EMBER CAN END IT - Embers from a fire can spread quickly and quite a distance, putting communities well away from the main fire at risk.

A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Saturday 5 September for the Greater Sydney Region, with Extreme fire danger forecast.

Warm, dry and windy conditions are forecast across parts of the state, with much of northeast NSW experiencing High fire danger.

Take action now. Know your fire risk and what you will do if fire threatens. Remember to report all unattended fires to Triple Zero (000).

Hi all. Be advised that we in the Shoalhaven LGA have started our bush fire danger period. Starting September 1st you will require a permit to burn.
Now is also a great time for you and your family to review your Bush Fire Survival Plan.

Today, 27 Local Government Areas (LGA) commence their Bush Fire Danger Period, with several areas beginning a month earlier than normal due to the prevailing dry conditions.

Additionally, two LGA's will commence their Bush Fire Danger Period on 14 September, which is two weeks earlier than normal.

Residents and land holders should ensure they understand the rules around the use of fire. Along with required fire permits, you must also notify your local fire authority and neighbours of your intent to burn 24 hours in advance.
