We had a lovely day in Canada mode. Canadian Lisa McCoy was our guest speaker. The junior and senior members were all very interested in her information and the members all had a go at cooking Canadian food for lunch. It was all very yummy and we all came away with very full tummy’s.

Next Monday 21st September at around 1.30pm in the Thoona Hall is our monthly meeting. All juniors are encouraged to attend as it is school holiday time. This meeting will follow our International Lunch starting at 11 am. The country this year is Canada and we will be catering for around 20 people. If you wish to attend our lunch and stay on for our meeting, you are most welcome, but we will need to know numbers so please RSVP to Heather by Friday18th September on 0428 652 347. We need notification of attendance for catering purposes. Lisa McCoy is our guest speaker.

We must congratulate two of our newest members, two juniors, Brooke Mavridis and her younger sister Penny, on their third prizes at the CWA State Arts and Crafts Exhibition currently on in Geelong West. Maree Semple also received a third prize for her infamous Strawberry jam at the exhibition. Well done ladies/ girls as the competition was very tough this year.

Come and join the Thoona CWA this Monday 17th August at the Thoona Community Hall at 1.30 pm. If you are new to the area or a real local, it doesn’t matter, you are invited to attend our meeting and join us for afternoon tea after the meeting. Great way to see what we are about and a fantastic way to support the local community. You don’t have to be crafty or able to make great scones, just come along and decide if this is for you. 12 beanies, a neck warmer, a pair of fingerless gloves and a knitted string bag to be donated to the Benalla Homeless Response group for distribution. More beanies are underway and we hope to donate these soon to the Wangaratta Homeless group, while it is still so cold.

Fun day had by all at the Elvis Day at Thoona CWA. Elvis impersonator, Mark Apollo, was a great success. Afternoon tea was enjoyed by all. Mare’s sausage rolls were a huge hit.
