Please join us in welcoming Dr Charissa Groves to FPHW as our new Medical Director! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Dr Charissa has recently returned to working in Melbourne after spending a number of years in Aboriginal health in regional Victoria. She completed her medical degree through Monash University in Gippsland in 2012, before undertaking pre-vocational training in metropolitan Melbourne and later specialising in General Practice.

Dr Charissa became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2018 and has since developed broad experience in delivering person-centred care across all stages of life.

Dr Charissa has particular interests in womenโ€™s and childrenโ€™s health, antenatal care, sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and the management of chronic illness.

In her role as Medical Director, Dr Charissa is passionate about improving health outcomes for patients and the broader community. She is also committed to supporting the next generation of doctors through teaching, mentoring and clinical supervision.

Outside of work, Dr Charissa enjoys hiking, running, traveling and spending time with her family, including her much-loved therapy dog, Akita, who may occasionally make a special appearance during consultations where appropriate and welcomed by patients.

Dr Charissa will be working clinically in Thomastown on Mondays and Baluk Balert Barring in Frankston on Wednesdays.

Weโ€™re proud to share new artwork at our Early Parenting Centre Balert Barring, created through a meaningful collaboration between local families and artist Emma Bamblett.

This project has brought community, culture and creativity together in a way that reflects the strength and spirit of the families we walk alongside.

We sincerely thank Frankston Community Fund (Frankston City Council), a giving fund of Greater Melbourne Foundation for helping make this community art project possible. Thank you Cr Emily Green for visiting to present FPHW with the grant funding.
