Today, we honour the brave men and women who served and remember the sacrifices they made.

A great turnout from the Wollondilly community for a very respectful remembrance service.

A big thankyou to all who attended.

Lets we forget.

Today we pause and commemorate National Peacekeepers' Day.

From Korea in the 1950s, all the way up to Somalia in the 1990s, East Timor more recently and even through to today…this author has a colleague currently deployed as part of United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).

Peacekeeping has been a vital service for many who have served and Australians have served in peacekeeping roles every year since 1947.

On 14 September each year, we observe National Peacekeepers' Day. The anniversary of the day Australia became the world's first peacekeepers to deploy into the field, in the Netherlands East Indies (now Indonesia) in 1947.

Since then, Australian service personnel have continued to support countries around the world. To date, Australians have contributed to over 70 international peacekeeping operations in more than 60 countries.
