Them bones, them bones .......

Louise brought in bones from various animals for the children to see and touch. She knew that one of our children is particularly interested in dinosaur fossils and that he wants to be a palaeontologist when he grows up. All the children were engaged but the girls stayed with the bones the longest!

There were bones from a sheep, a cow and a pademelon. There were jaw bones, leg bones, teeth and skulls.

Louise challenged the children to guess which animal the bones belonged to and how the pademelon's jaw connected to the skull. Thanks Louise - so interesting!

This term, we had a visit from storyteller, Leanne Logan who told us her story "King Fearful." This rhyming tale tells the story of a King whose world is dominated by fear. The story gently touches on themes of discrimination, greed and homelessness, all of which are overcome by bravery, a kind heart and the powerful act of singing.

We had the K-2 children visit from The Channon School to enjoy the story with us. After the story we all had a chance to make beautiful sparkly homes for our little felt unicorns with loose parts that Leanne brought.

The children sat around and had the space and beautiful props to let their imaginations run free.

STEM! We've been having fun with science on Tuesday afternoons. We've already experimented with making bicarb and vinegar volcanoes in the sandpit.

Last week we had three frozen coloured ice blocks with little plastic animals inside. We put one ice block in a container with warm water, one we added salt and one with nothing else.

The children all correctly predicted that the ice in the warm water would melt the quickest!

We will continue with other experiences related to science, technology, engineering and maths!

Thanks to everyone who our Spring Fair!! It was a lovely day!
