We had a lovely day in Thallon celebrating the 65th anniversary of the Thallon Rest rooms.

Friends came along, including past Residents,Teachers,Members , past Members, our QCWA State Executive - International Officer Barb McMillan, and some of the grandchildren of Mrs Cameron, (she had gifted the funds to purchase the land our building sits on). It was lovely to have the Willis and Persse families with us today.

And two current members Ann Persse and Shirley Gilbert - who combined have 100 yrs of QCWA membership - cut the beautiful anniversary cake.

Thank you to the BMT for sharing their event with us.

QCWA Thallon/Daymar Biggest Morning Tea
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Biggest Morning Tea! Thanks to your generosity, delicious contributions, and community spirit, we have raised an amazing $778 toward our $1,000 fundraising goal.
We're so grateful for everyone who attended, donated, baked, volunteered, and helped make the day such a success.

We're now just $222 away from reaching our target! If you'd still like to contribute, any donation—big or small—will help us get there and support this important cause. Thank you again for helping us make a difference.

Biggest Morning Tea in Thallon
Not long now. On Tuesday 16th June, the QCWA Thallon/Daymar ladies will be putting on a delicious spread and bringing the community together for a Biggest Morning Tea. This one is a special one as it marks 65 years since the doors of the Thallon QCWA building first opened—a huge milestone for a place that’s seen plenty of cuppas, conversations and community over the years. Come along from 10am to 12pm on Tuesday, 16 June and enjoy a proper morning tea, with all your sweet and savoury favourites, a good cuppa, and a chance to catch up with friends. Entry is $5, and there’ll be a raffle and a 100’s board as well, so bring a few coins along for a bit of fun. All money raised will go straight to the Cancer Council to help support research and those doing it tough.
If you can’t make it on the day but would still like to lend a hand, just scan the QR code and donate what you can. We’d love to see you there.

Looking for a few simple ways to make everyday meals and snacks a little more nourishing? Start with small swaps that fit into real life

Try:
• Fruit juice or cordial → a piece of fruit
• Sugary cereal → porridge or wholegrain cereal
• Soft drinks → water or plain milk
• Potato chips → plain popcorn or wholemeal pita chips
• White bread → wholemeal or wholegrain bread
• Butter → mono- and polyunsaturated oils or margarine

Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Small changes can build confidence in the kitchen and support healthier habits over time.

Which swap could you try this week?

Our AGM is on Wednesday 8th July. Come along - be the new executive / meet the new executive!

🌟 GROWING LEADERS FOR QCWA'S FUTURE 🌟

Could You Be Part of the Team?

When we think about leadership, many of us picture a President chairing a meeting, a Secretary taking minutes or a Treasurer balancing the books.

But leadership in QCWA often begins much earlier than that.

It starts with the member who helps set up the hall before a meeting.

The member who bakes for a fundraiser.

The member who welcomes a visitor for the first time.

The member who volunteers to help with a project, an event or a community activity.

Every Branch has members who quietly contribute in ways both big and small. Those contributions help keep our Branches strong, connected and relevant within our communities.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be introducing some of the roles and people that help keep QCWA running. You may be surprised to discover that many of our current leaders started simply by saying, "I'll give it a go."

Perhaps leadership isn't about having all the answers.

Perhaps it's about being willing to contribute, learn and grow.

Could you be part of the team?
