**THE 21ST ANNUAL WEIPA RODEO IS UNDERWAY!**

The action has kicked off in Cape York for the 2026 Weipa Rodeo, with two huge days of competition and entertainment continuing today and tomorrow.

Affiliated through our member Association - North Queensland Rodeo Association (NQRA)

The committee has put together an action packed program.

**Friday, 21 August**
Gates open at 3:00 pm, with events commencing at 4:00 pm.

**Saturday, 22 August**
Gates open at 2:00 pm, with events commencing at 3:00 pm.

Saturday’s program also features the **Cape of Origin**, followed by live music from **Danny Phegan until midnight**. There will also be novelty events throughout the weekend.

If you’re in Weipa, get down to the rodeo grounds and support this fantastic regional event. Best of luck to the committee, officials, volunteers and competitors for a successful weekend!

THREE RIVERS HIGH POINT SERIES – UPCOMING ROUNDS

There are still plenty of opportunities ahead for competitors chasing points towards the Three Rivers High Point Series buckles.

Competitors can participate as either an RSA Annual Member or RSA Day Member, so you don’t need an annual membership to get involved in the series.

📍 Tambo — 22 August
📍 Barcaldine — 29 August
📍 Ballyneety — 19 September
📍 Longreach — 10 October

Get your nominations in, support the committees behind these events and keep adding to your series points.

**Supporting participation and the future of rodeo in western Queensland**

The **Three Rivers High Point Series** was created following discussions with western Queensland rodeo committees about ways to encourage greater participation, support regional events and provide more opportunities for young and emerging competitors.

The **National Rodeo Council of Australia**, in partnership with our member association **Rodeo Services Australia**, is proud to support the series and the committees working hard to keep rodeo strong across the west.

By linking participating rodeos throughout the season, the series gives competitors an added incentive to travel between events, support multiple committees and accumulate points towards a **Three Rivers High Point buckle**, with the final presentations to be held at Longreach on the 10th Octobern2026.

Rodeos play an important role in rural communities — bringing people together, supporting local businesses and providing opportunities for competitors of all ages to participate in the sport.

**Junior Rodeo is alive and well in the Northern Territory**

Since taking the reins, the Northern Cowboys Association - NCA (NCA) committee has shown a strong commitment to rebuilding and growing opportunities for competitors across the Northern Territory, particularly at the junior level.

With the support of Noonamah Tavern & Rodeo, the Toni-Marie Butt NCA Junior Rodeo provides an important pathway for young competitors to gain experience and develop their skills within the sport.

Competitors and families are encouraged to support this fantastic event and help foster the next generation of rodeo talent in the Northern Territory.

The NRCA congratulates everyone involved and wishes all competitors a successful event.

Our upcoming rodeos are fast approaching, this is a friendly reminder for all new and existing members, contractors and event personnel to ensure your 2026 membership is completed.

All memberships must be finalised prior to the commencement of any rodeo events.

New competing members are required to select a bond at the commencement of their membership. Please make sure if you are a new member, you are selecting a bond on the membership form.
